Totally agree, as soon as I got my NOA1 MSC # I contacted my rep for my district by email, I am in NW Wisconsin Rep. Sheila Harsdorf, she is a real go getter for our district, she immediately contacted me and forwarded on my info to our Congressman Duffy, they have been looking into the case and have been updating me by email, wether it does any good or not I don't know, but I am going to try everything to get my wife and stepson home in a timely manner. I wish you all a speedy visa journey.

Hi everyone,

I am the UK beneficiary waiting on my NOA2 at this time. After contacting his congressman about the visa processing issues, my fiancé got a call yesterday from an apparently very pleasant and helpful representative who promised to help investigate the K1 visa processing times. Now I'm absolutely not jumping up and down saying that I should have my case processed before anyone else, but I DO hope that by speaking up we can help reform the system by some small degree, to the benefit of all. Particularly in times like this where government/public sector cuts are being made, if people don't make a bit of noise and make their representatives aware that this is a problem, the system is not likely to get better any time soon, rather the opposite.

Our thoughts were as follows:

My fiancee and I realise there are considerable waiting times involved when applying for a K1 Visa with USCIS. However, these processing times seem to be extremely erratic and are becoming longer all the time, at all the processing centres. The K1 visa was designed so that couples and families did not have to spend large spaces of time apart, but this system seems to be failing, and I would like to register my concern over this. It is hard for both my fiancee and I to plan our living arrangements, employment and personal life when the process is so hard to predict. I am registering this complaint with our case in mind, but also in the hopes that the visa system will be made more efficient and fair across the board. Our case is being processed by the Vermont Service Centre, and the receipt number is: Bla bla bla bla.

Aaaand suuuuure. I've seen other people being somewhat slated for this kind of call to action; 'it won't help', 'your case won't be processed any faster' etc..

Well, even if it doesn't help me, I hope that in whatever small way possible perhaps our one contribution will join many other voices in bringing attention to this matter. I encourage others to do the same.

Did that myself

noa 2 in 40days

consulate has our papers now

waiting on NVCletter so she can take her medical

all the DACA have been moved to other service centers you should see CSC and VSC crank out the approvals now!

In my opinion we have the weakest policial representation in this state. I think maybe because California is a Democratic state and they don't have to work as hard to satisfy us.

On principle I am voting as Republican for the next major elections though I am a Democrat.

My Senators were absolutely useless and I had no Congressperson.

I agree I am not even sure that me contacting my senator actually helped me but I thanked him as if it did I am in SC a republician state.

I believe our congress needs a reset a complete reformat and os reload if not the special interest will run the country not the people as it was meant to be.

Hi Mairead(?)

Just wanted to say, fair play to you. I think you're absolutely right and love the way you worded your thoughts on the issue. The system is failing its original goals and intentions. Also, the erratic way that some applications are processed with no apparent reason must be so frustrating for people. I appreciate that there are sheer volumes of applications to deal with but for some types of applications to suffer delays because there is a push on to address other visa types per politics (ie DACA), and for people to see other applications posted one if not two months after theirs getting approval when they still haven't heard anything themselves, is a genuine cause for concern. Once someone at USCIS starts to look at a case, it would be great if there was a notification that it's come to the top of the pile at least. As it is, it just disappears into this black hole that can take anywhere from 5 to 8 months with no word in the interim and no opportunity to ask because they can simply leave their estimated processing times as far back as they choose.

We applied in November to CSC and they haven't updated their estimated processing times since 5th February although they say they like to update it on the 15th of each month. So, people who applied on 19th July are now waiting almost 8 months but still cannot enquire and have to watch as some people who filed in August receive their approval.

I'm sure individuals at USCIS work as hard as they can but the system needs some overhauling by the looks of it. And its down to the people in charge to do that. If enough people bring attention to this via their Congressman/woman then that can only be a good thing.

Once again, fair play to you and I hope you get your NA02 soon so you can get on with the rest of your life.

All the best,

Karen

Karen I agree the way things are done all in all why not set it up where when someone gets a case file they work on that case until finished background checks and things they do are all done electronically anyhow and can be done in a matter of hours not days or months. if they did this then they could process 4 or more apps a day and if they have 100 processors they have processed 400 apps per day that is over 21000 apps a month that would be awesome and i know they would get apps that maybe delayed if those apps need more info or need further investigation those apps are pasted to a different dept. and the procesor goes to the next but from what i have seen and read one person does this and one person does that and another person does something else and so on... that is 3 or more people working on one petition that is not an efficient way to do something maybe it works in a car plant but not with paperwork my ideas are far from perfect but that can be done lol unfortunatly i'm not the head of uscis lol

Thanks, Karen. There are people popping up quite a lot saying 'Woah, I got my NOA2 in a month! Weird!' And its like yeah.. Good for you pal, but really that's amazing, but really what?! (In precisely that sort of 'Eh?!' thought process in my mind!) Where others are sitting on 230 days and counting. Makes you want to tear your hair out! We all just want to get on with our lives.

All the best to you :)

240 days here.

Did everything I could think of. Congressman said Was going to get an rfe. So far no news after 2 weeks. I think emailing NPR ( national public radio ) if they get enough people maybe they would talk about it would trigger more reaction / pressure from USCIS. At least going to try.

I'm really, really sorry to hear you've been waiting so long :( That's truly awful. Sending good vibes your way. And this is exactly why others (with hopefully more helpful representatives) should keep harassing them. Cases like yours is what is so awful about this system.

Starting next week, there are going to be a whole bunch of people into 240 days since NOA1 at CSC, unless it picks up significantly.

Yes, this is a long process... but I didn't realize just how long it would be! I sent in the I129F in July of 2012. I got the NOA on November 30, 2012. I then received a notice from the NVC with a case number. We are still waiting for my fiancé to get an appointment at the Embassy in his country. 8 months waiting... it is ridiculous!

I'm now being batted back and forth between the NVC and the Embassy. The NVC says the paperwork was sent to the Embassy, the Embassy says they don't have it and it's still at the NVC. Extremely irritated at this point.

Yeah - and our NOA2 is dated two days earlier than Moondream's. The wait is really getting to my fiance and me. He's going through some health issues at the moment and I should be there to support him and look after him. Not 4000 miles away!
