Good Afernoon,

I am new to this forum and need some help.

Me and my husband are awaiting our interview date. What has me worried is that I am 14 years older than him age has never been an issue for us but we are worried they will single us out because of this. Any suggestions how to overcome this?

Are you filing a K-1 visa? If you are you have to make sure that you have proof of the genuineness of your relationship. The age difference is a big red flag.

Sent I-129 Application to VSC 2/1/12
NOA1 2/8/12
RFE 8/2/12
RFE reply 8/3/12
NOA2 8/16/12
NVC received 8/27/12
NVC left 8/29/12
Manila Embassy received 9/5/12
Visa appointment & approval 9/7/12
Arrived in US 10/5/2012
Married 11/24/2012
AOS application sent 12/19/12

I am 21 years older than my husband, I was at the interview with my husband and the CO asked us both if the age difference bothered us, we answered honestly(it doesn't) and it wasn't an issue. As long as you can prove that you have an ongoing, bona fide relationship I wouldn't let it worry you too much. And just to add, my husband is from a MENA country, where age difference can be a red flag, we were able to overcome it. Good luck!!!

I'm 19 years older than my wife and they didn't even bat an eye.

We did have lots of proof of a bonafide marriage, but it was barely looked at.

I think it's kind of different for the man being older. That double standard thing.

Thank You so much for your encouraging words. It has never been an issue for us since the day we met. We love each other so much and just want to be together. Im gathering all my evidence so we can show.

I agree it seems to be a double standard when it comes to women. For men its ok to have a younger women but for women its looked down upon. Age is just a number and should not have any part of a decision making.

I am 21 years older than my husband and it wasn't an issue at all. I think maybe years ago it was more of a big deal than it is now. I do agree there is a double standard by the way some people think it's OK for a man, but when it;s a woman, not so much. But as far as immigration went, for us it wasn't a problem.

I am 14 years older than my husband as well. It was not a problem for us (it didn't even come up during our interview). I know it's hard but try not to worry. Just be honest and bring as much proof as you can. I'm sure things will work out fine.
