Processing Times for Common Forms

I have noticed some interesting changes in the dates reported for CSC processing of K1 forms.

When I first checked they where processing forms for Aug 30. A bit later I checked again as it stated that they were processing forms dated Oct 4, 2012. Then it switched to Sept. 29. Yesterday it was Sept. 24. Today it is Sept. 1.

I know this is a voluntary service so the information I get is worth what I pay for it. Still, I wonder, what is the source of this information. What is the basis for it changing. AND, at what point should I be encouraged by this reported date relative to my NOA2 date?

Just curious.

The basis for those dates is calculations from the information people voluntarily enter into their timelines. It's no more scientific or official than that. They're just vague guides.

I appreciate this answer, but I don't think it is quite correct.

For example, I have no way to know if the CSC is examining my form and, even if I did, I see no where to report that information on my timeline. All I "know" and can report is NOA2 receipt. And, the reported processing date does not correspond well if the "most recent 15" found on Igor's list.

So, again, I ask: from where does the reported information come?

Again. The reported information comes from a pool of data that is supplied by users of this site. It's often wrong/inaccurate, and currently I believe it's SO wrong because there were a bunch of expedites and then a sudden slowness at CSC. You shouldn't base any decisions around the estimated dates on that page, as it does not *know* anything about your case other than what you report about it and then calculations of petitions before yours/historical data. It's just a projection. I'm not making it up. :) It's not based on anything else. That's why it says "Based on VisaJourney timeline data" beneath it.

It's only a report of when people file and when they were approved. It's based upon that....it's all self reported...garbage in is garbage out, so if people are reporting accurately and timely it will be more accurate.
