Anyone know how processing times of I-130s at field offices compare to waiting time at NBC? I've read some posts that say field offices take an average of 5 months after they receive the file.

I filed an I-130 for my spouse. I received an NOA1 on January 14, 2013. My file was transferred from the NBC to the Santa Ana field office on February 27, 2013, in case anyone has any specific experience.

Thanks!

Hello!

You can check how many petitions are being processed at your local office here. It seems to be around 3500. I think thats quite a load, but then again, how fast they process also depends on how many people they have employed at that office. You will see that bigger offices have higher petitions (obviously), but to get a better estimate of how soon its going to be processed, I think you have to consider what is the adjudicator

to petition ratio. In other words, how many petitions is one adjudicator handling in your local office!

That too is just a guess :)

no one can really say. It depnds on the local office and the reason why the file was sent there. I was told my file was sent to NYC local office too but I think it only spentfew days there as we we got approved not too long after that. Some have been there weeks and others months. Some even had to be invited for an interview in the local office.

How did you get this info?

When you call USCIS and speak with a TIER 2 officer, some are nice enough to give out that info if that is the case with your file.

GOD has been WONDERFUL!!!

I filed in Oct 2012.In nov 2012 it was transferred to my local Jacksonville Florida office. Now if I am interpreting the data correctltyit actually looks like my local office is doing pretty well as far as receipts/ approvals. It's just the wait is getting a bit agonizing.I do get a little comfort in knowing there are others whose process has been going on much longer than mine.

Oct 1st 2012 - Mailed I-130 package to Phoenix
Oct 3rd 2012 - Package delivered
Oct 9th 2012 - NOA 1
Dec 12th 2012 -Case finally visible on USCIS website as initial review
Jan 31st 2013 -Emailed ncsc-customerconnect@uscis.dhs.gov
Feb 6th 2013 - Response that my case was tranferred to the local Jacksonville field office on Nov 19th 2012
Apr 2nd 2013 - Infopass. Found out that there was an RFE dated Dec 19th that I never received.USCIS website never reflected that either.Got a copy of the RFE .Time to make another infopass to drop documents off at local Jacksonville office.

Apr 29th 2013- Dropped off RFE documents at local office

May 7th 2013- Got text that petition was approved.

As everyone is saying, it depends on the Field Office. Atlanta has just started processing August petitions this month.

Had my FO not screwed up and asked for info that wasn’t required at this stage, my case would have zipped through in under 2 months. As it was it took under 5.

Way better than had it stayed in VSC. I feel bad for the people who’s cases are gathering dust there.

How did you get this info?

Hi, I called last week and spoke to a tier 1 rep. I was told that because it was over 45 days since my NOA1 (January 14, 2013) I could either (i) leave a message, (ii)hold for a tier 2 rep (I held for 30 minutes and gave up) and/or send an email to ncsc-customerconnect@uscis.dhs.gov. I was told the email would be responded to within 10 business days. I emailed on March 5, 2013. I got a response on March 11, 2013 (4 business days) advising that my file had been transferred to the Santa Ana Field Office on February 27, 2013. I don't know if they will respond to emails if you don't call first and create a log. Regardless, email worked well for me and I hope it works for others too. Good luck!

I am just so upset and no 1 @ USCIS can tell me the truth cause every time i called i get a different answer :(

Try emailing (see my post above). Good luck!

Wow. Thanks. Baing transferred to Santa Ana could be really bad. They seem to be completeing around 300 applications a month. At that rate, it could take them 11 months to complete the approximately 3500 applications they have. This coincides with the 5 month average that people say they previously had (1500 ish applications generally outstanding with 300 being completed a month = 5 months). Oh well. It is what it is I guess. Thanks for the link.
