Hey guys,

I'm debating whether I should hire a lawyer to file for my wife or not as we will be doing several different forms.

Some more Info about us:

We got married a couple weeks ago.

She is on a J-1 visa - Expires on 24th March! - no two year requirement.

We will be applying also for Work permit, and Advanced Parole to travel before Greencard confirmed.

I'm not sure on if I earn enough money to be the only sponsor and to be honest, I'm not sure how to measure what I earn! Do you look at wages to date this year? Or estimate income be calculating hourly wage by hours per week?

I'm comfortable with ALL other aspects of filing the forms except this part and also where I need to send all the forms.

Any advice guys?im obviously in a time stress as well because her visa expires in a couple weeks! Do we need to send the forms before the end of the visa? She was told be her sponsor that they are aloud to stay in US up to month after te visa expires so they can travel.

Any help? :)

If you are an employee, you will list your current annual income. What you make a week times 52 weeks in a year. Provide a letter from your employer and most recent pay stub(s) as proof of that income amount. You will also provide your most recent tax transcript. If you do not meet the 125% requirement for your household size, then you will need to find a joint sponsor. http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/i-864p.pdf

I am not sure how a lawyer could help you with that.

This is a DIY site, most here won;t recommend a lawyer unless you have a difficult case. The majority of people here have done the entire process from start to finish on their own.

Overstay is not penalised at the time of adjudication for immediate relatives of a US citizen.

The I-693 sealed medical exam should be submitted with the AoS packet, you will receive an RFE for it otherwise.
