Hello everyone, I'd truly appreciate your advice here. I am a Canadian. I met my girlfriend in Chicago on a online matrimonial site. She visited me a few times in Toronto. This is my second visit to states to see her. On my current visit, I was planning to propose to her but decided to get married as well. But I'm not sure what my best option to stay in the USA is now. I originally planned to stay a week but its been over 30 days now and we haven't began any paperworks. From what I understand, the following is what I should follow:

We both should file the following:

I-130-my wife's petition

I-485-green card application

I-765 -Work permit application

G-325A-biographic form for both of us

I-864-Affidavit of support

Is there someone else who is in the same boat as me and have gone through the process successfully. Also, is it more advisable to file the paperwork in 60 days of my entry to the USA instead of 30?

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I'm going to go ahead and move your question to the adjustment of status from tourist forums. You are not applying for a spousal visa you are directly applying for adjustment of status via tourist entry. There are many people in the adjustment from tourist section going through the same thing you are! You are not alone. There is also a Canada regional section in the region forums, feel free to pop over and read up on Canadian specific things or ask Canadian specific questions!

Go ahead and apply as soon as you can. With the long wait times these days, it's probably worth it. If you're talking about the 30-60 rule (or whatever it's called) there's really no such thing. Best of luck!

Day 0 - 2 May 2012 Mailed AOS package overnight delivery
Day 139 - 17 September 2012 Interview & APPROVED on the Spot!! :)
Day 145 - 23 September 2012 Received Green Card!

ROC - Eligible June 19 2014

Day 0 - 18 June 2014 Mailed ROC package via 2 day priority

Day 42 - 29 July 2014 Approval and Card Production Email

Day 49 - 5 August 2014 Received Green Card

You also probably want I-131 for advance parole, in case you need to travel.

And you will also need I-693 for the medical.

This. I would file as soon as you can. Make sure to look at the forms and required evidence you will need to have to send it, and for an interview.
