Again, where did anyone incluiding myself and the poster you are replying to say that saying BISMALLAH makes food halal??

People are ignorant because that cant read what others are saying OR they read between the lines here.

I am sorry  I didn't mean to offend anyone. This is just a discussion. Everyone has a different point of view. :innocent:

A Gentlewoman named AboSohaila has said that. These are her words

"Just a point for your husband, he can eat the regular meat too, tell him do not stuck on Halal only cuz its more expensive and soetimes hard to find.

also tell ur husband its permissble in Islam to eat regular meat and you say "Bism Allah before you eat and that is t "

Puppylove,

I am curious if you eat any kind of sweets, like cakes with icing, cookies, pies, etc.

Yes

I mean it's hard to eliminate every single thing :o They use alcohol in medicines too :o It doesn't mean that we stop taking medicines. We can't avoid that. we don't choose to take those medicines. But we can get Halal meat, not very hard. It's about your intentions.

Google is not always helpful in this case. You can use the following website:-

http://www.zabihah.com/

After you search by your Zip code or narrow down by clicking through country/ state you can see the restaurants and there will be a tab for grocery stores as well and most of these grocery store usually will carry Halal meat. In terms of regular grocery stores, unless you live in high concentration of Muslim population, it's rare that you will find Halal Meat in those stores.

The large grocery store near me sells halal chicken. There's also a butcher in town that carries a selection of halal meats including beef, chicken, goat, and lamb. It's not as hard as you would think.

what i did when my husband arrived was to get and download the APP on my android phone called ....MASJID AND HALAL FINDER...and this helped us find a mosque first and then you press "halal restaurant" and it shows nearest markets as well as restaurants you can eat in .....it was the greatest help ever. we are near san jose california.

also going online and just searching for "halal meat market" will pop up a bunch. but the app shows how many miles away each mosque and meat market is.

also

some COSTCO stores carry halal LAMB in their meat department. its a small section.

good luck!

Once again, another poster who clearly only likes to read what he wants.... Find any where on here where I or any other poster said in these words, "bismillah means your food is Halal"

You said "The Imam told him to say Bismiallh before he eats and all will be okay". True you did not use the exact word halal, but the meaning came across the same. That it is ok to eat meat that is not halal. Especially since you referenced a surah.

The main foundations for slaughter agreed to all Muslims.Where you must first label (that is to say the name of God "bismillah") and this is an Islamic duty.God said (and do not eat, which did not mention the name 'God) verse (121) el anaam.

You have to know what is the meaning of halal meat or word halal here first, of the halal requirements of the muslim must be adhered to:

- Slaughter civil and could be a man or a woman

- Routing header carcass towards Qiblah " Muslim Mecca"

- Speech Basmalah before slaughter

- Slaughter a sharp knife.

In this case meat becomes halal, Without this it is not permissible for a Muslim to eat meat. And those who say to you that the name of God "bismillah" enough he is a liar,in the Koran there is 6236 "aya" I defy anyone to come to me and show me where God said the word name of God "bismillah" is enough to eat meat not slaughtered according to Islamic law. This is the truth about eating meat as commanded by the Koran, and who ever wants to eat meat that is not halal for a particular reason or argument or convenience, feel free, but do not say that the name of God "bismillah" is enough. We should not say what God did not say. And the word "bismillah" is used by muslims for alot of things when they start to do something."Bismillah" means: The name of God. Google and type what kind of meat the muslim can eat it or what the Koran said about muslim meat. Salam

Oh and one more thing, just because you are muslim does not mean you have to find halal places to eat. You mentioed the above places not being Halal ummmm hello you are not in your country and yes muslims can go to any Pizza Hut, Subway, etc. Just because you go out for pizza dosent mean you have to eat pepperoni. Subway has tuna, and I do believe you can eat tuna.

laughing.gif

It's true Muslims can go to any restaurant and eat. And yes, even tuna. But honestly I don't want my tuna being prepared with the same things the non-halal turkey or forbidden bacon that sits together in a place like Subway. The above places are not halal, nor forbidden - but it doesn't mean it is an easy choice either.

And the "ummmm hello you are not in your country" - might have come across a little harsh, it made me wince anyway.

Just saying we are here to have a nice topic of conversation - which I believe is WHERE to find HALAL meat! Looks like this could be a nice hot topic on it's own in the correct forum though!

Ya know the sad thing is, when we go out to eat at some of the local buffets, I never realized just how much bacon was used in the food itself for flavoring and the pig lard to fry chicken and fish in. Im not saying all places do, but how does one know if pig lard is not being used. We have a place here called golden coral, one evening, I was, debating on fish or chicken to eat, the lady putting out the food said go ahead honey its fried in lard just like in the good old days. Mohammed couldnt even eat the green beans, because of course there was ham pieces in them. Idk, even after two years, its still hard for my husband to trust what he is eating outside the home.

I am American born US citizen and I am darn well afraid to eat outside my home and have been for years. Halal or not have you seen the way foods are handled in public restaurants? Even how they are packaged in grocery stores? I know we have to eat but it pays to be very mindful and careful.

Have some friends here who have family or friends in Vermont. I would be happy to ask them. Let me know thru email if you need this info.

just get something kosher. There's tons of that.

why would I "just get something kosher" if I need something halal? It's not the same as halal (umm....different religions) :bonk:

For many muslims, kosher is not an option, just as I'm sure for many jewish people, halal is also not an option instead of kosher.

As my husband says "EITHER IT'S HALAL OR IT'S NOT" There is no "substitute" for halal and no substitute for Kosher.
