homemade marshmallows from fish that a new one, i will have to look that up. I found some marshmallows at the halal market and tried to make rice krispies treats but it really didnt turn out very well for what ever reason and they didnt melt well with butter. Maybe fish gelantin will be my next experiment.

Marshmallow cream or fluff is usually gelatin free. It makes for way easier rice krispy treats too.

There are also recipes for homemade marshmallows with xanthan gum too you could try. I like the fluff stuff though, even though I know it's bad.

Oh  I don't think that's true ! Just saying bism Allah before eating regular meat doesn't make meat halal according to Islamic standards anywhere in the world. That's in case if you are unsure about meat is halal or not, then it may work. Otherwise an animal has to be slaughtered in an Islamic way.

And Muslims usually say Bism Allah anyway before they start eating. People just make up reasons according to their desires. They are ignorant.Because they can't always find a halal pizza hut, kfc, subway etc.

Again, where did anyone incluiding myself and the poster you are replying to say that saying BISMALLAH makes food halal??

People are ignorant because that cant read what others are saying OR they read between the lines here.

SALEM,just I want to explain something to you. This verse "aya" does not speak at all for the possibility to eat any non halal meat once you have said "bismillah", The name of God Here "bismillah" means that it must be said at the time of slaughter, and it is forbidden for any Muslim to eat meat not slaughtered according to Islamic law. This is what God ordered us in saying "forbidden you dead and blood and pork and the people of God ... to the end of aya" , and he also said "Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah, that which hath been killed by strangling, or by a violent blow, or by a headlong fall, or by being gored to death; that which hath been (partly) eaten by a wild animal; unless ye are able to slaughter it (in due form); that which is sacrificed on stone (altars); (forbidden) also is the division (of meat) by raffling with arrows: that is impiety. This day have those who reject Faith given up all hope of your religion: yet fear them not but fear me" so we understand that the God said "forbidden" not just "bismillah and eat" if that was the case there would be no need for hallal stores

PS: just read the "aya" before number 4 i mean number 3 its very clear when the God said ""forbidden"" salem

Once again, another poster who clearly only likes to read what he wants.... Find any where on here where I or any other poster said in these words, "bismillah means your food is Halal"

Ya know all these years of making those treats, it never occured to me to look at cream or fluff as I assumed it had gelatin in it. Well thanks, you made someones husband a happier man today.

Oh and one more thing, just because you are muslim does not mean you have to find halal places to eat. You mentioed the above places not being Halal ummmm hello you are not in your country and yes muslims can go to any Pizza Hut, Subway, etc. Just because you go out for pizza dosent mean you have to eat pepperoni. Subway has tuna, and I do believe you can eat tuna.

When in Rome, eat as the Romans do.

Wow. My husband was in shock when he read this. He knows of no Imam that would recommend this to replace being halal. I don't mean to get off topic here, but I just want to make sure people should research this statement and decide for themselves if this is correct for them as some Muslims and Imams believe this is still a major no. If interested, Google and the reasons for and against the idea for a clear picture.

:ot2:

You are right that people should search important topics for themselves, and sometimes, just like your husband, we are shocked by things we don't know, but that statement is correct according to many islamic scholars based on Q 5:5 "The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them."

Still, this is a public forum, and people should get their info from trustworthy sources.
