Hello. Can anyone share any knowlwdge or experience on the required medical examination. I am petitioning for my wife. I-130 has been accepted and is in process. I am citizen and she is presently in US and came without inspection.

I understand there is eventually the requirement for a medical exam she has to have. she was tested for.tb at one time during.a.pregnancy and tested positive. But she had her tb shot in mexico and it is said that that is why she tested positive??? Can someone shed some light on this particular situation...id really appreciate it. Thanks.

The medical was meant to be sent in with the petition if you are filing for her adjustment while she is inside the USA. You are supposed to file the I-130 and the I-485 at the same time in the same envelope.

Without the proper information as to what exactly you are doing with the filing we cant give you the exact information you need. Is she staying in the USA living here, is she going back to her country etc.

Thanks for reply. Since she came.to US without inspection she is not eligible to apply for adjustment of status until a waiver is approved. Thats why only the i130 was sent. She is in the US presently and she will eventually be going to Juarez, Mx. For her consular appointment, once i601a is approved. She plans on staying in US of course. I was just wondering about medical examination and positive tb test. Thanks.

She will have the medical in Mexico then, a positive TB test means she cannot be issued a visa unless she shows she does not have TB, either by taking the course of medication or another type test to show she does not have it.

My brother in law, in the same situation was told he has to get a letter from a medicals professional affirming that the tb shot from Mexico and the tb test in US will create a positive test eventhough the test is not positive. ....is this sound right? Im still thinking that bottom line, one has to verify that one does not have tb....

Fhorta- You know that's what happen to my spouse when she was pregnant, we found out that once she goes to CJ for her medical exam the 1st thing they do is the x-rays, she should be honest and tell them what happen during her pregnancy, we found out that mexico gives a shot when you are born that does something to the body that when you get the tb shot you come up with a bubble by the shot area that doesn't mean you are positive. Don't worry she will be fine.

yup, same thing happen to almost all my friends ( from morocco) who took a TB test. the result came back positive because they give us a shot in our early stages of our lives. that caused the results to be positive so i had to get X-rays done to make sure i don't have TB. so do not worry about it , your wife will be just fine
