How long is it taking to get scheduled for interviews?

Does anyone know if we could pre-pone my I-485 AOS interview? I am guessing we can get most of our papers in place by next week

Also, can I use this interview notice to extend my driving license which also expires end of March? Thanks California for limiting my license to my H1-B validity :(

Been married since 2012

As far as I know you can only postpone interview appointments (and even with difficulty- read post AOS denied due to USCIS error topic). In terms of your other question, I personally do not know...but I am actually surprised to hear California is actually checking statuses of people as I've got my DL when I was 16 years old, and since then I've been on so many other statuses besides the one I was on when I was 16 and never ever got checked again for "current" statuses, but just renewed my license all the time through their website. So I am actually surprised to hear this...anyway, someone might will answer to your second question. If I was a strict DMV officer, I would not accept it, as interview does not mean approval...you could be denied, so then why DMV would grant you a new DL. But I honestly don't know...I'm just speculating here...(what else do I do here? :) )

Thanks for the input - I love California but the DMV is not making it easy even after us paying such high taxes :) I will call to check if there is a way to pre-pone and update on that

I wanted to share my experience regarding the processing time for my AOS. We filed I-485, I-130, I-131 and I-765 at the end of December 2012, and I have already successfully completed a GC interview, approved on spot.

The AOS interview notice came only about 5-6 weeks after the forms were filed, and 3 weeks before my EAD and Advance Parole travel document was approved. My whole process took about 2.5 months. As other people said, I believe it may depend on the location you file. Good luck to everyone!! :)

Thanks for your input anvemo - appreciate the insight! At this point, I am hoping to get my EAD asap so that I can continue working at my current employer. Based on your above timeline - how long did it take for you to get your EAD in hand? 8-9 weeks?

I actually never received the card in hand before my AOS interview. I was told it was never sent to me, even though their system indicated that my EAD card was sent by registered mail. As far as I remember my case timelines, EAD approval notice was 8 weeks after filed, then a week later card was produced and reportedly sent and delivered. It is confusing and I was told it was a mistake on their system. Fortunately, I dont have to worry about it anymore :) I suppose you just have to be patient as each case is different.

I was able to use my I-797 to extend my driving license for 6 months, which gave me enough time to get my greencard - so try using that.

I think it varies by state though, and also by who is looking after you at the counter.

Regarding EAD, mine took about 6 weeks after my biometrics. Interestingly enough, all my employer wanted was my I-94 once my visa expired, and as that was dated past my visa expiration date, they were happy to keep me on. It won't reflect badly on you if you keep on working, so I'd keep quiet and keep that paycheck coming in - if at all possible. It's your employer's responsibility to make sure they are hiring people in compliance. And to be honest, the govt in cases such as ours is usually happy we are working and paying taxes, particularly if we are pre-citizens. :-)

Mariana - I looked it up but it seems like you have to wait 90 days before you can setup an INFOPASS appointment :(

I will look into this, not sure if California DMV is that flexible when it comes to giving DL extensions. I had my Biometrics of Feb 5 - next week would make it 6 weeks but nothing seems to have changed on USCIS. My employer has all the right updates and will be following the legal procedures/guidelines
