I have been waiting patiently to either get our interview scheduled or get my EAD card - nothing has changed in the last 4 weeks and I am anxious on how much longer we are expected to wait

Continue being patient. EAD is usually approved within 90 days of filing. Your interview notice could come only 2 or 3 weeks before the interview itself.

You could ask your congressperson's office to put in an expedite request on your EAD... also, possibly you could try to "recapture" some days to extend your H-1B status, though I don't know whether it would be worth the trouble and expense of filing for an extension.

Thanks hmh33 - what is the general process to reach out to the Congressperson's office? I assume that the right person to request EAD expedition here would be my spouse since she is the US citizen

Upon some research, I believe Anna G. Eshoo represents the district we live in

PS: I agree that trying to recapture days to extend my H1B does not look appealing given where I am at

You just sent in your application on January 19th. Be patient. We sent ours in on Sept 29th and we're finally going for our interview on Friday. So our process has taken just under 6 months. Obviously some people experience shorter wait times, others longer, I'm not sure there's any way to really know how long yours will take. Try checking the current average wait times for your local office. EAD/AP will probably be approved soon though. Hope you won't have to take leave!

Yes we did, but that does not speed up the process in any way . From what I read here it depends which city you are in when it comes to how fast the interview gets scheduled

Arrived home to a surprise - got letter that scheduled my I-485 AOS interview for Apr 10, 2013. I would have preferred my EAD being in the mail but I am thankful for this. Any recommendations on what we should collect in order to prepare for it over the next month?

I think it depends on the "local offices" too, how crazy busy they are. Some people get their stuff in a breeze, others seem to wait forever...but in the end, what matters is that you're approved. Good luck!
