Getting Police Clearance from the Philippines While Abroad

Hi, everyone. My fiance and I are applying for a K-1 and waiting for our NOA2. I'm a Filipino citizen who used to reside in Quezon City. I am now based in the Bahamas. I would need a police clearance from Quezon City. Would anyone know how I could get one while I'm abroad? The NBI has a definite procedure for that but I don't know how it is in Quezon City. We would appreciate any information on this. Thanks a lot!

You will not need a police clearance for Quezon City. They only require the NBI clearance. My fiancé was worried to so we got clearances from Manila and Zamboanga, even getting Banagay clearances. None of them were asked for, only the NBI, that's all they care about.

Thanks so much! I got stressed when our lawyer said it has to be NBI AND police clearance.

Apply online and have them mail it to your current address

Good luck!

Thanks so much!

For the Philippines at least they are one in the same. NBI is like our FBI, and theoretically anything criminal would show up in the NBI.

So 'Police Clearance' is the larger term, but NBI basically IS Police Clearance.

Yup. We weren't certain too so we went ahead and got the other police clearances. Again, they were never asked for or looked at, only the NBI.

Just make sure when you apply for NBI, that you are clear you are applying for use in traveling / moving abroad. There's still a bit of uncertainty, but it seems that there are two different NBI, one just for local employment, and one for travel. Yours has to say clearly that it's for travel abroad.

...I'm a Filipino citizen...

If you have lived in The Bahamas for more than six months, you will need to submit a police clearance from The Bahamas.

I looked up in the website of the US Department of State and it says: "Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for 6 months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)"

Here's the link:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_2994.html#3

So that would be clearances from the Philippines (lived there since I was born until I was 38 years old), and the Bahamas (which I have been living in since 2008).

You need an NBI not a local police clearance.
