i would appreciate any help with this, will my wife and stepdaughters automaticaly recieve social security numbers and if so how long after they enter they enter the US will they recieve their social security numbers n cards and also their greencards? thk you fellow vjrs by the way our petitions all three were approved we were at VSC pd:july 5 2012 noa2:march 4 2013 i found out first from our congresswomen who notified me by phone even before the update was shown two days later n received the hard copies three days later.She also informed me that the same day all three petitions were already enroute to the NVC!!sorry one more question; how long might it take before the NVC receives our files and how long might it be from the time NVC receives them till an interview date? We will be at the embassy in Manila,Philippines thk you very much for any help with any of my questions godbless

Once the visas are endorsed at POE, the green cards will arrive automatically within a few weeks/months. Don't fret about this as the stamp given at POE, along with the visa in the passport, acts as a temporary green card for up to one year.

The SSNs are slightly different. If you check off 'yes' on the DS-230s for the SSN to be assigned and the card to be sent to you, then it could be sent a few weeks after POE. I say could because it's not 100% guaranteed. If after 3 weeks from the POE and the SSNs haven't arrived by mail, then you'll need to go to a local SSA office and apply in person. I had to do this. Three weeks passed from my POE and I still hadn't gotten my SSN, so I went to my local SSA office with my documents and applied in person. Less than 2 weeks later, the card arrived in the mail. Right now, it's taking awhile for approved I-130 petitions to be sent to NVC and case numbers to be assigned. Around a month at the moment. And you've got a whole process to do (pay bills and send packages) before an interview date can even be assigned. You've got lots of reading to do. When arrived to States i got my green card almost a month,i didnt receive my SSN even tho we put check in our papers before that we gonna receive my ssn so we just go to ssn office and got my ssn for just 3 days.Usually NVC stage is pretty fast if you have all the docs.We start NVC stage around sept. but have delayed because of my BC if we didnt have problems of my BC should be done before december.Have my interview March 8 and got my visa at 12.Gudluck!just prepared all the docs needed for NVC that way make your visa process a lot more faster..
