As a TN native, don't bother with Gatlinburg.

I wanted to go to Greece, but the boy said no. I'll go wherever though, as long as he's with me. /cheese

Oh really? Gatlinburg is not all its cracked up to be?

Greece....yes someday definitely

I am the petitioner.

These are not exactly unique but you might want to consider...

  • picking a package for a non-hunting African safari, such as a tour of the Masai Mara
  • joining Nat Geo for an expedition http://www.nationalg...atgeoadventures
  • going backcountry hiking and camping in Mineral King, CA or in any other US national park (Glacier National Park, for example)
  • signing up for a liveaboard scuba diving excursion, like the one that goes to the Tubbataha Reef in the Philippines
  • exploring some luxurious resort options on Jetsetter http://www.jetsetter...ions&cl=4&rid=7

It's just so touristy and expensive with nothing much to offer. There are so many prettier (and nicer) places in TN to spend a honeymoon.

I love a guy who looks like he could be on Criminal Minds as either an agent or a killer.

For my honeymoon, we took the train across America, stopping off for a day or two in Boston, Chicago and Denver, before finishing up in the Bay Area for two weeks. We got to see all of the US unfolding before us, and met some amazing people on board as well. Everyone wanted to know about the newlyweds on board! Once in the Bay Area, we spent time in Berkeley, San Francisco, and Marin County (plus a little detour to see friends in Santa Cruz) before heading back east by plane. Unforgettable.

My mom tells me about Harlingen all the time. It's one of her favorite overnights (she's a flight attendant).
Cool! Which airline? Which flights does she usually work?
That's Mexico that way we would like to experience it. No Cancun or Cozumel for us]
There are only a couple of border towns that I haven't visited, and I enjoyed all of them (the smaller ones perhaps more than the bigger, excepting Nuevo Laredo, which is great, si man). I even walked about 13 blocks in Matamoros, by myself, both for the experience and trying (like a cheap gringo) to save the 50-cent bus fare from the border crossing to the tourist market. Got dreadfully lost but managed to communicate my need for directions and find the destination.

During multiple visits over a period of years, I've never felt the slightest bit unsafe or seen anything alarming in any Mexican border town, no man.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Camping in Glacier National Park - Montana - amazing! Or the lodge in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with the Grand Teton mountains directly behind you is one of the most amazing sights ever.

Gibsons, BC is beautiful also. Take a ferry from Horseshoe Bay and then stay at one of the many amazing bed and breakfasts. I recommend the Deer Fern.

Banff, Alberta - slightly touristy but the mountains and lakes are gorgeous.

I live in Costa Rica so I'm all for that idea

We went skiing in Colorado for a week. Since we live in tropical paradise, the 10 foot snow drifts were quite exotic for us!!

Oh and we're planning a trip to Cuba in July. Can't wait!

Being that winter is coming to an end, There is a yearly ritual in Glacier Park Mt. The snow removal and opening of "Going to the sun road" is a unique experience in of itself, and taking this road into the Waterton side of the park (Canada) is wonderful. You will see animals and nature as you never have or ever will anywhere else. Going further north, Calgary has always been one of my favorite places with a wonderful zoo, different cultural sites and of course if timed correctly, The Calgary Stampede is something to see.. Further north is another favorite of mine which is Red Deer, Alberta.. Especially if you have kids along..

Camping. Fishing together. Flipping over in the kayaks. Snuggling by the fire. Cabin, shelter, tent, or ground sleeping--all are good. Sooooo many places to go.

I've got a dream to hike (part of) the Appalachian trail, too. That would be some great bonding time.
