No it would have made a man out of you... That is what is wrong with all the kids being raised to day and wussifaction oft his once great country

I suppose putting on several layers of clothes and having commando style war games with real BB guns might have pushed you over the edge ? Those were good times, I tell you what.

the main reason i was scared was because i was shy. i didn't want to get hit in the face and cry like a girl in front of my classmates. still, it wouldn't have made a 'man' out of me. playing dodgeball with four balls and permission to aim for the head, wouldn't have caused me to sprout a #######.

I had no idea you were a chick. I just assumed that everyone on here was a man since it was a public forum discussing politics and such. I knew there was that one chick from England.. You husband let's you spend time on here being very vocal about politics and such ? That's surprising but I guess it's a new world, huh? He must be one of those metrosexuals or something I read about.

when i was a kid, if i was given a play weapon, at a birthday party or something..it was taken away from me as soon as i got home. my mom would prefer if i declined to take such a toy in the first place. if i had been given a play weapon at school, my mom would have been livid. i can't tell you the number of times she would be angry because of a teacher's movie choice or that dodgeball was played (oddly enough, it isn't anymore, not in school). there are still plenty of parents that don't want their young children exposed to violence or weapons. they're over-protectors. parents who go overboard drive the same reactions out of principals and school officials. they don't want a bunch of crazy parents pissed off at them. so yeah, nice title.

Me too.

But I had REAL guns. My father was against the use of toy guns as he thought it promoted unsafe behavior...pointing guns at people. That was NOT OK, not even for pretend. We had plenty of real guns and we could handle and shoot them safely anytime we wanted. By the time I was 10 I was regularly carrying a Ruger Single Six .22 revolver for chores around the ranch and it hung on a hook in my bedroom when I was not using it. My oldest son still has that revolver. I used it to shoot rattlesnakes, and to drill pilot holes in fence posts (1960's cordless drill) When I was in High school I received a S&W M10 .38 Special revolver for work duties...a step up! I fitted it with Ivory grips and still have that one. With 5 boys and a gun enthusiast father and grandfather on a ranch in west Texas, there were guns pretty much everywhere. We assumed they were all loaded (they were not but we assumed so) They were in barns, trucks, tractors, bunk houses, closets and even the kitchen.

But pointing toy guns at each other was forbidden.

if there are guns accessible to children, in the home, those kids should know what they're capable of. but, being a chick and all, the thought of growing up carrying real guns around and shooting snakes sounds icky. to each his own.
