Hey guys,

I am confused, I know there is a new USCIS Immigrant Fee which started on Feb 1st of this year.

My brother has his F2A interview back in December and was given a AP, he received his visa/packet in feburary but didnt received any instarctions or pepare saying pay USCIS Immigrant Fee.

How I can find that my brother need to pay that fee? or what should I do to find out...

Thanks..

Unfortunately, you will have to pay for the Immigrant Fee, since your brother received his visa in February. I might be wrong. Your brother can call the embassy/consulate where he had his interview to be sure. But base from the USCIS site: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=3a2bb75e8109b310VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD

Any individual who on or after February 1, 2013 receives an immigrant visa package from a United States consulate or embassy abroad (including Canada and Mexico) must pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee.

Hello IT_1,

Its unfortunate he has been put on AP, which means he would not have his immigrant visa stamped on his passport. From my understanding, you will have to wait for your brothers AP to be complete and the visa to be issued. when the visa is issued, you will be given a sheet of paper with ur case id, name and alien number.

You have no choice but to wait for the AP to be complete or you can try calling them to see how long the AP will take. One will get an alien number only when his immigrant visa is approved.

you will need the Alien Number to pay new immigrant fees of 165$

Good Luck

So they put him on AP after issuing his visa? So he got his passport with the visa and the packet as well after his interview?

The Immigration fees sheet is given to ppl post feb 1st interviewers from my understanding. But i dunno how he is on AP after his visa being issued, packet picked up etc.

Are u saying he has an alien number already?

Yes his interview was in december and was put on Ap, In february (AP completed)he got his visa/packet, he didnt received any sheet saying pay fee etc. I am going to confirm with him if his visa has A# on it ....

If his visa donest has A# on it, then I will guess..he dont need to pay... I am also planing to call NVC to find out.
