AP can take a long time, I can not remember anybody not passing it eventually.

If you get married you would have to start again.

Long stretches of AP are unfortunately very common for Pakistan. Try and hang in there and have your congressman make routine inquiries to get updates on your AP status.

The worst thing you could possibly do is get married. You are a K-1 applicant. Do NOT get married.

Especially considering certain countries. Nothing personal but you should have/could have expected this based on your fiance(e)'s country of origin.

Maybe you should contact them now. That's too long for administrative processing. Hmmmm...

That is not "too long" It takes what it takes and YES you can be denied after 7 months... or two years. There have been several cases here at VJ that took multiple YEARS to process through AP. They are not completed with the AP. When they have completed it, they will make a decision.

There is no one to "contact" and they will not give any information on AP.

Agreed. DO NOT get married. You would throw out everything and start over with a CR-1 which takes about 1 year if there are NO delays and you could pretty well figure on another AP period with that.

Most of life's disappointments are caused by unrealistic expectations and even a brief review of how these visas are handled in Pakistan would have prepared you for this. It seems to be the "norm" for Pakistan.

It is a possibility, you only know you have been finally approved when issued visa. Try not to worry about.

Actually Eabbas' husband's case was just sent back to USCIS with the recommendation of denial- NOIR/NOID last week after being in AP for 21 months(through Islamabad as well). Anything is possible through Islamabad, Pakistan by far the most difficult country to get a visa from, even more so than Nigeria. To the OP if you go to this thread you can read Eabbas' comment about her husband's case from March 6th, 2013 http://www.visajourn...bad-ap-tracker/ the thread is for people going through AP in Islamabad, you can talk to the dozens of people who are in AP, some for many months, even years. They have a wealth of information for Islamabad Embassy, and they are great for support. Getting married will only put you at the beginning of the line again. Good luck to you!

I would def get in touch with a congressman or with the consulate.

The only thing a congressman might be able to do is tell whether you are still in AP or not. It is ultimately up to the discretion of the consulate whether they choose to disclose information or not regarding AP. Ususually you will only get a generic response telling you to bear with them while they complete your AP. Some members have found that congressmen can sometimes give generic information regarding your AP such as the nature of your AP (name checks, etc).

A congressman cannot intercede into the consulate processing. They cannot end AP or speed up the processing. The OP is free to contact the consulate. They will tell them most likely that they are in AP, they cannot give them a specific time frame, and to please bear with them while the processing completes.

Some people like to make routine inquiries to the consulate because it gives them peace of mind but you will be notified when your AP ends. The best thing the OP can do is continue on with their life for the time being and avoid obsessing over the visa process. It's all a waiting game until AP ends.

I am the petitioner.
