Hi All,

My parents had their visa interview in Manila and both got approved.

Some staff at the St. Luke Medical Center was telling them that they need to travel and leave the Philippines by May of this year. I am trying to find out as to why.

I know that the visa is valid for 6 months. The Medical exam I think is good for 12 months. The CFO sticker is good for maybe 6 months. Is there any other requirements/documents needed to enter the US?

I filed their petition in May and got approved in August last year. Could it be that the petition, although has been approved, could still be a factor?

Please help. I am a little lost.

Thanks.

You have 6 months from the date of your medical to enter the US. When you got the visa does not matter, the medical is done before the visa interview and it is only good for 6 months

That makes sense. But when does the countdown begin, at the start or at the end of the medical? They went in on 12/19/12 and they got everything done and finalize on 2/21/13. My dad had issue with TB but got cleared.

Thanks!

Hi again, I really don't know for sure but based on them telling you that you would have to leave in May I would say they are using the December date

The expiration date of the visa is printed on the visa.

Right on!

The visa expiry depends on the date of the medical, its 6 months from the date of the medical.

When my husband and kids had their medical on Aug 17 and completed it on Aug 19. Interview was Sept 30. Visa received Oct 4. Visa expiry Feb 14.

They are using the December date for you. My husband had his medical last January 24, went for sputum exam last Feb. Results will come out this coming April, St. Luke's told him he needs to leave before July or else his medical will expire. So they are using the January date then. Even if your dad is cleared last Feb from his sputum culture, They will still use the month which you started doing the entire medical. That's what the staff at St. Luke's told us also... Anyway, Congrats! :)

The expiration date of the visa is printed on the visa.

They are still waiting for the visa to be delivered.

In that case, you should expect the visa expiration date to be around June 19 because their medical was December 19.
