I have just had a conversation with the DOS to see whether our case has been received and logged by the Consulate in London.

The Lady I spoke was extremely helpful however I wonder if the information given has been heard before.

She advised that yes London had received the electronic notification of our case, but the physical case package had not yet been received, this is apparently sent by diplomatic pouch and can take some time to arrive. I guess I was a little surprised I thought that the packages sent by DHL that we have all been tracking are actually our hard copy cases.

Anyone got any thoughts on this

Do we need to wait for the hard copy case to be received before sending in all our Forms?

We got the same info when we called several months ago. They gave us the LND number so my fiancé had the medical done before be got the letter. We had everything ready and sent the packet back the day after we got the letter.

They're behind in London, so they may have the physical package, but not logged it yet.

Yep! It's been close to a year since we started this process. It requires patience. I feel like once we're together, though, the rest will be easier to handle.

The DHL package is most definitely your hard copy paper file. If it left NVC on the 4th, it probably arrived in London today. That doesn't mean it is in the offices of the Immigrant Visa Unit. It could stay in the mail room a week. Somebody has to open it, logged it in, file it. They let you know with a letter when they are prepared to receive your visa application . If you want to send early, then read this statement from the embassy website:

Note
: Only applicants who been notified by the Immigrant Visa Unit that a petition has been received in their name should complete the visa application forms. Forms received without the applicant's case number will be discarded.

I don't know if they would discard it, but it stands a better chance of being laid aside if it arrives before they have a file set up for you.

Have you prepared everything, got your police certificate, shots, etc? If not you might want to start reading the pinned thread for K1s up at the top of this forum from the beginning. There's a copy of the letter you will receive and other useful info to help you prepare

Thanks Nich-Nick that makes a lot of sense. We have every thing prepared ... the only thing I'm waiting for is the affidavit of support which is winging its way from my man now ... hopefully it should be here on Monday!!! The Medical is booked for Friday next week ... I guess it may be best to hang on to the forms until I get the letter ... will then send the whole lot off inc the letter of readiness.

Although I do have the case number :/
