Almost 10 months since I filed AOS and still waiting for GC!

Hi everyone! Again I use this forum to vent our frustration about how long its taking to receive news about my GC approval (or not!)

I filed my AOS papers in late May 2012 and the case was transferred to California (lucky me!) in July ... We are still waiting to receive news about my GC. My husband and I called USCIS 20 days ago and the uscis lady (very polite) opened a service request because my case already past the 180 day mark. She told me to call back in 15 days if no news about the GC or anything.

Ok we called again a 3 days ago and the uscis representative (a guy) said I have to keep waiting as the case is in California. He did not give me any real answer. I asked him if I should call again in few days or open a new service request and he said that I have to keep waiting as there is not an specific waiting time to get news about my AOS case.

I'm getting frustrated already, I see other people getting their GC in 6 months or less and in my case is gonna be 10 months since I filed for AOS.

Anybody in the same situation than me? I'm getting worried that someone at CSC put my case in the bottom pile of papers. :crying:

Should I schedule an infopass app?

Thanks for listening!

We are both the same. I'm tired of waiting already. I sent mine July but I didn't here anything. Everytime I check at USCIS website still the same acceptance, it's annoying how this process goes. I want to take a rest without thinking of papers but I can't.

I think I should go to infopass. The second USCIS person I talked over the phone said nothing. It seems if it was for the uscis representative , I should wait till the end of times! :crying:

Gonna keep calling USCIS but they dont say much. I was hoping to see other people here in my same condition but so far it seems I'm the only one waiting 10 months. This is frustrating.

Since everyones case is different the following is for the OP since they were transferred to CSC and are outside of normal processing times-

You already put in a service request, it may or may not have an effect in getting your case moving again. The phone center is only going to allow you to put in a certain number of service requests and they must be spaced apart at certain intervals.

Because you are outside of posted processing times, you can (and should) contact your reps for assistance. You have 3 available to you. 2 senators and 1 local. Start with the local as they handle a small area and will be typically be closer to you and less busy. Use 1 or use all 3 to inquire. You can also use the Ombudsman.

If you are using my case status to check for updates, you should make an account and check the my portfolio link to see the last date any processing was done- (I dont know if the service request is going to effect that date or not, if it doesnt, it will give you an idea of the last time your case was touched and how long youve been sitting)

Don't worry, you are not the only one out there. My husband's AOS application has also been transferred to the CSC on May 25, 2012... and we are not 10 months and 1 week into the wait. We sent a letter earlier this week to our Representative, requesting they look into our case and see if they can get the ball rolling. We had to send in a written letter of permission to them in order to look into our case. We had also sent in a service request to the USCIS about a month ago and they sent us a reply a few weeks later with the response pretty much of, "we'll get to it when we get to it." So hopefully our representative will be able to help!

Holy cow that's crazy. I'm in San Francisco, we sent in our AOS on January 25th, biometrics was Feb 28 and we have our interview appointment April 3rd! So like 9 weeks total to interview!

I guess the downside is that we have to do an interview, but I think I'd still prefer that over months of waiting.

Was it a tier 2 person you were talking with?

Well we just called again (3rd time!) to USCIS customer service and the lady on the phone said I should wait 2 more weeks and that this may take up to 1 extra month to get any news. So I will be going for the guiness record of waiting in total 11 months!!!

The weird thing she said, I did not quite understand, is that she mentioned my case is in the uscis local office. But then I asked her that my case was in California and she said yes it is. So what it was sent to my local uscis office?

They are gonna make me have an interview? After waiting so many months?

They are very good this people at not saying a thing to help in this cases. Tried to make an infopass app and the local uscis website has no appointments dates available for the moment.

So I guess I'm gonna contact a congressman. I dont see another alternative. :(
