Wrong!!!!!! We just went over for two weeks and used her married name for airline tickets... When i filled out the forms for PI immigration I put her passport name and tbey told us we were wrong, its her married name and they want to see the marriage certificate. And they looked at her Early work/AP card which is her married name..

It seems possible that what the Filipino customs officer meant was that the name on her declaration form had to match the name on her passport. If so, that wouldn't really directly address the OP's question.

Just to clarify:

> Your wife's passport is in her maiden name, her green card is in her married name, and her airline ticket was in her married name.

> She had no problem boarding the flight from the U.S. to the Philippines or the return trip.

> Did she have to show her marriage certificate before boarding either flight?

They don't check green cards for flights. Maybe they look harder at foreigners stuff but the only person who asks to see my ticket is the people in security. Immigration and customs don't care about your plane tickets. I still think it doesn't matter for your ticket as long as you have an ID to match it. I'm sure you could get through both ways.

Traveling to the Philippines and you don't think the airline doesn't check her passport, visa and green card?? You obviously never flown internationally... Airline will not let you through security without all of the proper documentation.

Her married name is her legal name. She needs new passport with married name.

She doesn't need new passport. Green card married name, passport maidan name ticket married name is fine. Have copy of marriage certificate.

The airline looked at my wifes passport( Maidan name), her AP card( Married name), ticket( Married name), and wanted to see our Marriage vertificate. Then it was have a nice flight. Then security wanted to see all of them the same. Then, sir and maam have a nice flight....

If the OP kept her Maidan name after marriage then we wouldn't be discussing anything because then she only has one name.

Yes that is correct. Yes she had to show her marriage certificate at every point except POE in MSP.

The PI immigration wasn't related, just was mentioning I screwed up by putting her Maidan name on the declaration form. Even PI immigration recognizes her new name and wants her new married name on the form..

I travel internationally 6 to 8 times a year with my wife, her passport is in her maiden name, and she has never been asked for a marriage certificate or any other paperwork. The only thing that they look at is that her passport picture looks like her, the name on the ticket matches the name in the passport and that it's valid. Her visa's are stamped in the passport. The only reason they would ever question the name in the passport would be because of something you say.

More info needed? Does she have a green card and Philippines passport or US passport? Did she keep her Maidan name after marriage?

I used my married name for the airline ticket when my husband and I had a vacation in Mexico in 2010 and also when we visited Jamaica in 2011. When we went to the Philippines last year, I used my maiden name because when I booked our flights on the website of Singapore Airlines, the passport entry box indicated that the name that I must key in was to match my passport.

My passport still has my maiden name while my permanent resident card shows my married name. I never had troubles going out of the US and coming back. No one ever asked for my marriage certificate either.

She uses her Philippines passport. When it is time to renew it she will have the name changed. She has my last name, the only time she uses her maiden name is when traveling in order to buy tickets that match the name on her passport. We have never had any problems. Even the K1 people have passports in their maiden names, go to the US, get married and then travel using their old passport with no problems. Just be sure to buy your ticket with the same name that your passport has unless you want to carry around a lot of extra paperwork. In the US you don't need a passport to travel so you can use any ID, it's only when you leave the country that a passport is required

That was ONE nice thing, of many, about getting married in the Philippines, was that my wife got her Philippine passport renewed in her married name before ever leaving to come here.

Sorry guys.. don't argue.. yes I have changed my maiden name after marriage. I guess I will just use my married name to purchase ticket.

Were not arguing, were getting down to the bottom of this good topic. It sounds like it has worked both ways. In my opinion, I would contact the airline.

But in PI immigration we needed to identify we were married as I wAnted the year visa. Thet asked for everything. But I suppose you could go through seperate with no issues, but will only get 21 days..

So are you guys in Phil now? Did your wife received her GC yet? Am I limited to stay in Phil? I thought as a filipino citizen I could stay up to 6 months, as what I've understand on my previous post.. Anyway, I am just asking though since I am not staying for that long, I'm dying without my husband.. :crying:

We got back two days ago. We went after she received her Early work Authorization/AP card. No Green Card yet. You're a filipino citizen- you can stay as long as you want as far as Philippines is concerned. You have to watch your time if you plan to become a U. S. Citizen. Not sure how long you can be out and what circumstances there are yet.

If I travel with my wife I, the US citizen can stay a year. That is what I was referring to. Not that I'm staying that long but staying longer then 21 days..
