Hello. I already obtained 1 copy of NBI clearance, do I still need to obtain a Police Clearance from our municipality? How many months is the validity of PC? Spousal petition has just been approved the other day, I'm wondering to obtain it next week.

I only submitted the NBI clearance on green form. The police clearance is needed if you have lived or worked abroad for more than a year after turning 16 years old. http://manila.usemba...v/wwwh3217.html

Don't forget to get a CEMAR (Marriage Index)- requested via the CENOMAR form. This is commonly overlooked. Here's a link showing it's needed: http://travel.state....l?cid=9719#fn11

NVC stage is a breeze!

Good luck!

No. That's the common misconception. The CEMAR (Marriage Index) and Marriage Certificate are 2 different documents.

Police Clearance is only needed if you worked or lived in a foreign country for 12 months or more. You will need PC from that foreign country.

If you never lived/worked outside the Philippines, you will only need to submit the GREEN NBI Clearance.

OH, i dont have one. How many original copies to have?

I just got one copy. Others brought it to the interview but I submitted mine along with the DS230 packet, during the NVC stage. However, I did request for newer copies in time for my interview date, just in case the consul would ask for newly issued ones. But no other documents were requested from me come interview time.

Good luck!

I suggest few pictures of you both with friends and family, also pics from your wedding. Greeting cards, emails and chatlogs would be ok.

At the NVC stage? Did not submit any of those anymore. I just brought additional evidences to the interview, which were a few chat logs, emails, photos. I was only asked to show wedding pictures by the consul.

5. POLICE CERTIFICATES: A police certificate is required from a country in which the applicant lived for more than one year (six months if you are applying for a K visa) after turning 16 years of age. As with NBI clearances, foreign police certificates should be obtained in any maiden names, married names, aliases or nicknames ever used while in the country in question, including different spellings of all names ever used. Information on how to secure police certificates from countries where these are available may be obtained by contacting U.S. Embassy Manila’s Immigrant Visa Branch or an Embassy/Consulate of the country from which the police certificate is required.

OP is IR/CR so its 12 months or more.

6 months are for K visa applicants.
