Approved at London Embassy interview today!!

A big thank you to everyone here who has taken the time to help others. I certainly wouldn't have managed to get this far without the fantastic advice given by the members on this site.

One heart stopping moment to note:

The lady taking my documents asked for Part II of the DS-230 form. When I replied that it wasn't needed for a K1 visa I received a look that only can be described as withering. She slapped the first page onto the glass partition and told me to read the first paragraph where it says 'This part, together with Part II, constitutes the complete Application for Immigrant Visa.'

Thankfully, she let me fill in the form there and then.

Yes, it is required. Your embassy group should have informed you of this.

Not according to their own site it is not.

Step One

Complete the Form DS-230-Part 1, Form DS-156 and DS-157 for each family member applying for a visa. In addition, the principal applicant is also required to complete form DS-156K. Note: Forms DS-156 and DS-157 must be completed in duplicate. If a question does not apply to you, please mark it with a N/A. The completed form(s) should be mailed to the Immigrant Visa Unit. See "Contact and Mailing Address" on the right-hand side of the page. Note: The failure to return the forms promptly will delay the processing of your application.

That's crazy because you are getting a non-immigrant visa. I've never heard of a K1 having to do that. I think she was mistaken.

Tell me, was it at Window 1, a short Asian lady with a soft voice?

No, it was a black woman with long braided hair at window 13. She was pleasant enough after I'd completed the form, even joking about how grouchy I looked in my passport photos.
