Submitted DS-230 (Part 1): What happens next?

Hi all,

We are looking for some tips on my IR1 application. My husband and I have been married and living in Mumbai for the past ~3 years.

Here are some details about our case:

1. Oct 29, 2012: Submitted I-130 for IR-1 visa at New Delhi Embassy through DCF
   
2. Nov 20th, 2012: Received confirmation from Consulate General in Mumbai. Case number assigned, asked to download the Packet 3 forms (the letter had my DoB entered incorrectly and the category was mentioned as CR1 whereas we have applied for IR1. I then corrected the DOB on my ustraveldocs.com profile, as instructed by the Call Center)
   
3. Jan 23rd, 2013: Sent form DS-230 (Part 1) and DS-2001 to the Immigrant Visa Section at the Mumbai Consulate by post
   
4. Feb 6th, 2013: Paid visa interview fees of USD 240 online for K-3. This was an error on our part (!) as our application is under the IR1 category. Hope it does not complicate our case
   

Since then, we have been awaiting further communication. The questions we have now are:

1. What is the next step in the process?
   
2. How do we know whether the DS-230 Part 1 been received by the Consulate?
   
3. Is any further information required from our end?
   
4. What is the average time period between sending the DS-230 (Part 1) and receiving the next communication from the Consulate?

I'm not sure if the process is the same there as in the Philippines but if it is you probably will get no more correspondence from them. Go online and make your interview appointment. If the system allows you to make the appointment it means that the DS-230 and the DS2001 have been uploaded into their system and you will be good to go. Good luck

Hi-

I submitted the I-130 on behalf of my wife at the New Delhi Embassy in July. We received DS 230 Part 1 and submitted it in August.

We just received Packet 4 in the mail about 3 weeks ago telling us that the interview is scheduled for April 1st.

So About 7 months after we submitted the DS 230 we were told about the interview. Nothing to do but wait.
