How's your plan for living on the dole in 2013 working out? We never heard back from you post-implementation. Did you get your Obamaphone?

Yeah, I can see the benefit to the person using the free phone service. Having a hard time seeing the benefit to anyone else.

Yeah, the nerve of people to think they should be able to call for police, ambulance, or fire services! Or even to get a call from their children's teachers! Just like the tea-party crowd at that rally (for Rand Paul?) last year who applauded the idea of an uninsured guy dying because he didn't have health insurance! That is an America to believe in!

Give them a phone that can only dial 911. Teacher can send a note, or the parent can go to the school and meet with the teacher. Better yet, the parent go to the library and use the free computers to email the teacher. Don't like that, pay for your phone out of your welfare payments.

ETA: I don't recall seeing a requirement to have children in school in order to get one of these phones.

You cannot see a connection? Let me explain it to you. I would draw you a picture but I lack artist skills. The connection is this RWN, tea party mentality, Archie Bunker channelling, 'hyper' outrage, of the type Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh are so good at. And usually, like now, being directed at some straw 'villain' using only a few of the facts and making up most of the details to try to create a logical narrative to justify their ridiculous hysteria! You get yourselves so worked up that some of the weaker minded among you may not understand that this is just for some kind of make-believe play-acting and they may eventually, if they have not already, start collecting their guns and ammunition and head to Washington and their state capitals to become RWN heroes and martyrs!

We can have constructive debate about social policy and what ideas are good and what programs need modifying or termination. This might be one of those. But you must start out by using facts and keep the partisan hysteria ('Obama'-phones!) out of it.

Gary has been asked this numerous times since the first of the year and has not answered it once. His multiple meltdowns over this issue back in November and December weakened his spine even further. Besides, he doesn't wear the pants.

We'll never get an answer. We heard daily details of the plan, but once it was time to put into action ... nothing. Must not have gone as expected?

Reduce your income below $2,800 per month, scarf up the benefits and eat better than ever. You CAN do something about it. You will cease to pay income tax (my calculations do not even include that) AND get a big refund via the EIC. Enough for a trip to Thailand.

Well I actually do understand the shrinking middle class. See my post earlier on income distribution. What I don't understand is that how a poor person can have a a nice car, cell phone, 50 dollar nails, and 5 kids by the time they are 21. That is the part that is out of control.

Poor is not poor anymore and way too many people are on the system.
