meh. there's no difference between welfare and corporate welfare. none of it benefits me yet i pay for it all. i pay for the rich to stay rich and the poor to stay poor. there's no point to pick a side.

I'm glad I don't have an attitude like that. If I did, I'd have to find something else to do besides post in P&R on VJ.

because posting in P&R requires party affiliation?

No, because posting in P&R requires outrage and anger. Well, fake outrage and anger at a minimum. This laid back "nothing I can do about it" attitude is unacceptable.

You must hang around a higher class of people than most.

Not really. I just live in a state that went blue. States that went red are where most of the people who get free stuff live.

The Republican party was so confused when they got thumped in November and most don't realize this is why. The alienating, divisive comments that don't have a basis in reality but gets them emotionally fired up.

Sure, you lost because people like free stuff. Keep that attitude and see where it gets you in 2016. Yikes.

A state that elects a union busting republican like that, I wouldn't consider all that blue.

All I said was that it went blue. I thought it was obvious I was talking about the general election, but apparently not.

Considering after electing him in 2010 and then went blue in 2012, Mr Walker might have a problem in 2014. On a plus side for him, he did survive the recall vote.

So that comes out to ~$7.25 an hour, 40 hours a week. Using 135% of the 2012 poverty guidelines. Nice.

ETA:

The 2013 California minimum wage is $8.00 an hour.

BUT don't forget the deductions. There is a standard deduction for each person in the household, a housing cost deduction, utility deduction, etc. A person making minimum wage will actually end up being considered to make only about half that much and get a free phone.

And they only need to make 125% to sponsor an immigrant and you get FULL credit for the GROSS income amount

Do the math six ways from Sunday. If a family of FOUR is making less than $2800 per month ($33,600 per year before tax, can vary slightly by state) they can scoop in enough benefits (after the allowances and deductions)to have the equivalent buying power of $5800 per month. $69,600 per year before tax, about $80,000 per year figuring for 15% income tax. Medical benefits alone are about $1500 per month. I haven't even added in the big benefit in college tuition and grants for "poor people" And if you are a position where you can earn CASH for some or all of your work....

Thanks to Obama and the Democrats (the same people that will ###### about it here) IF you have a family of four and are working your @ss off and making less than $80,000 per year, it is completely foolish. Working to earn money that will simply be confiscated is not NOBLE...it is STUPID.

You would think, the same ones that want to reduce insurance company profits and have universal health care for ALL would understand and support this. They won't. Just watch.

The Democrat policies have shot a HUGE HOLE in the middle class. There is no point in making more than $33,600 but less than $80,000 per year. This means even single wage earning households of four of educated professionals...teachers, nurses, technicians, engineers, are sicked into the HOLE. Each time a new benefit is added, the hole gets bigger and sucks in more people. More and more say "I am not paying for this!" and jump out of the hole.

Reduce your income below $2,800 per month, scarf up the benefits and eat better than ever. You CAN do something about it. You will cease to pay income tax (my calculations do not even include that) AND get a big refund via the EIC. Enough for a trip to Thailand.

This is what the majority of the people in this country voted for.
