Is this normal, do they usually arrive separately? I'm concerned because the postal office clerk stapled mine along with my passport application, worried they might have discarded it.

IRS won't let us use staples, want paper clips. Put both of our certificates in those clear plastic envelops, agent removed the certificates to staple the certificates. Wouldn't let her do that, put them back in the envelop with the staple in the envelop, not the certificate.

While we live in Wisconsin, one was sent to New Orleans, other to the much closer Chicago office, have no idea why, paid expedient for one, standard for the other, but both passports came back in overnight USPS heavy cardboard envelops overnight that I had to sign for. No certificates inside. Both came back in plain brown envelops, one still in the clear plastic envelop, other, just the certificate, both with untraceable first class postage. Both came in thankfully undamaged with the same exact address the passports came from. No DO NOT FOLD stamps on those envelops, even get those stamps on junk mail in large envelops.

Have no idea why they cannot put our certificates in with the passports in that protective envelop you have to sign for, could save the cost of that envelop, postage, and addressing it. Maybe they are trying to create uncessary jobs. Since SS is keeping track of immigration status and a universal database, also have no idea why we even have to send in the original certificates. Only a few have been reported as being lost.

When I helped my stepdaughter move into a 38 unit apartment building, was watching that postal guy jam in mail in those tiny slots with 38 tiny mail boxes all jammed together. Wondered how he would deal with our certificates. Live in a rural area, so installed an extra large mailbox so nothing has to be jammed or folded when I started to deal with the USCIS.

Those certificates cost over 400 bucks to replace! Very careless handling done by the DOS. Just seems crazy to me.

My certificate showed up today, was also sent in a non traceable envelope but got delivered securely in my locked mailbox. Phew, journey fully completed :-)
