The Federal Aviation Administration announced it will close 173 control towers at smaller airports around the country in April.

"It's hard for us to see the fairness in the budget cuts. It seems the contract tower program is taking a high, disproportionate cut," said Spenser Dickerson, head of the Contract Tower Association.

The White House canceled tours

The White House announced it will stop public tours beginning this weekend. This cut will particularly affect members of Congress, since they are required to notify constituents their tour is canceled.

"Basically it creates a constituent relations nightmare," an anonymous aide complained to Roll Call, a Capitol Hill paper.

Such a bummer things like White House tours may be canceled. But it's a bummer for so many things, it's weird how the tours are getting so much media attention.

Cutting two cents from every dollar the government spends seems to mostly affect those things that would be noticed by the public. Gee, I wonder why that is?

As an IRS employee I have been notified that we will be furloughed for about 7 days. This won't happen until this summer and they will spread it out so that you are only furloughed one day per each two week pay period.

How is that less than 2% of the budget cuts have resulted in illegals being set free, white house being closed, deployments cancled, long lines at airports, closing of control towers etc etc. Who has been stealing the other 98%

There is no way less than 2% is causing all this. It being way overblown by the Prez .. Why is he so against controlling spending. Look how the Econmy started popping as soon as we shows signs we might actually start addressing the issue.

Here is a great example of how our Gov waste money.

I live in a town that is about 1 hour from one of the biggest airport hubs in the nation. You can park in my town and ride a shuttle for about 40 bucks.

However our Govt think it is vital we have commercial air service, even though we have proven over the last 50 years it is not economically viable sooo...

Out govt gives a small airline 2Million dollars provide a daily commuter flight from here to the hub for about the same price as the van ride. Thing is that the van ride is quicker, by the time you ride to local airport and check in and take off, you can be in Atlanta.

They have done this before and many times the planes fly with one or two people or empty. Insane

Now I can understand a subsidy to fly in and out of remote villages in Alaska when thier is no other means and lives or at stake. Or a fair size town with no airport of any size for hours.. Almost 2 million.. Multiply that times all the stupid grants, and other BS. The Govt wastes way too much money
