Anyone Hired a Lawyer to Help Process spousal petition?

Hi there! Our petition has been approved today. I know we have to wait for a few days for NVC processing. My husband hired a lawyer and I'm not sure if she will be the assigned agent to receive any communication from NVC. (it's actually my husband who talks to her, and he needs to ask an appointment before she can talk to her)

I would just like to know if someone in here is in the same situation with mine. What did your lawyer do to help? What's the process? Is your lawyer be the one who will send the needed documents? Does hiring a lawyer helps to speed up the process?

Hoping for good responses.

Thank you.

Congratulations on your approved petition! Very exciting!

IMHO, there really is no need for a lawyer for most uncomplicated situations. Most VJers here do the process on their own.

The petitioner and beneficiary can acquire and submit most, if not all, required documents.

No, having a lawyer does not speed up the process.

I highly recommend reading this guide. The guide stresses being proactive during the NVC stage, rather than reactive.

Hope this helps you some! Good luck!

Hello guys. Ive always heard contravercial things bout hiring the lawyer or not. Most people think they can do work independently without anyones help, lawyer firm claim that process cant be run without their job. I didnt know what to believe. As we were new at it, me & husband decided to apply for a lawyer. To be honest i regreted & was disappointed. First of all she filled my dox wrong, i.e. bout the place i worked, secondly she took almost a month to fill out all forms "correct", my buddy was applyin visa actually same time, but independently, eventually she got NOA1 faster than me! After i made sure that half people who applied themself were right. At least they control the process instead of receiving the answer "wait your line, we did our job, everything depend on nvc". Think before u make decission bout lawyers, u can just waste money
