My two step-daughters are awaiting AOS (along with their mother). I applied for AP and EAD for each of them when I sent in their I-485 forms. We have received receipts for all the documents and I noticed that each of the girls has been assigned an A# - when we received the K-1 and K-2 packets, only their mother had an A#.

Now that the girls (ages 16 and 18) have an A#, is this enough for me to get them Social Security Numbers? We have already gotten the SSN for their mother. I would like to get their numbers too - it will make filling out US papers easier!

You cannot get an SSN with an A#. They need to wait for their EAD, then they can get an SSN.

Agree!

That was our experience when obtaining a SSN for my stepson (K-2).

Thank you. We should be getting their EAD soon, so I will file for the SSN after we receive that in the mail.
