you want to blend in the crowd and not stand out as a foreigner or some rich family. otherwise you are a target for robbery and theft.

airline will not let you board with a car seat / stroller. it will be stowed away upon arrival at airplane entrance.

you need to tell your airline/travelagent to buy a 'baby seat' ticket.

07/17/12 - Mailed DS-3032 via mail, AOS bill received via email, paid online, Optin email sent.

07/24/12 - Assigned as Agent, IV Fee bill received via email, paid online.

07/31/12 - Emailed GZO Supplemental Packet 3.

08/02/12 - Case completed and commenced final review.

08/03/12 - Shipped all copies of forms/letters/documents to my wife - arriving on 8/9/12.

08/06/12 - Case completed final review.

08/09/12 - Appointment letter received via email interview date set 9/6/12.

08/14/12 - Medical exam done.

08/15/12 - Medical exam results all normal.

09/06/12 - Submitted required documents at the embassy and interview set next day at 0730.

LOL, I am a 6'2" 215lb Caucasian. There is no way I can ever blend into a crowd in China. It is so bad that Yuan forbids me to go into any small store with her because the prices increase when they see me.

Upon further thought, we are going to leave the car seat in the states.

Yuan has already bought a front-pack device to carry the baby with. When we move back to the states we will purchase an extra seat for the baby and call the airline to get a bassinet.

When the time comes I will have the car service stop by my house and pick up the baby seat for use from the airport to the house.

OMG what a statement. This isn't NYC, ULS, where foreigners are dragged into allies and assaulted/killed. Believe it or not there are strollers and car seats in China in case you didn't know. :wacko:

We just got back from our Cali trip with our 9 months old son. We only used the carrier at Airport and the City. It just made everything easier with both of our hands free. I do recommend getting a seat for him on the plane so he can sleep between you guys especially traveling international. We got lucky with our flights no one purchased seats between us.

I don’t think you need a car seat, since he is still a small baby, I would just carry him around in the City. If you need a stroller later, just purchase one in China.

11/07/2013: Picked up passport and visa at Citibank
