Received green card, starting to look for work

My wife, who just received her green card, is now officially able to look for work. Her family is driving her crazy, saying if she doesn't find work, immigration will think she just came to the us to play. She is actively looking for a job, but it's very hard in NYC. So my question is, will immigration investigate at all as to why she isn't working yet?

No. Jobs are not easy to come by in this economy, even for US citizens. My husband has been here almost 5 months, he just found a job.
