Hey, I also received the exact same letter also dated August 2nd. I thought it was because I had tried to put in a service request two weeks ago since it had been more than 60 days since they received my response to the RFE but perhaps they are sending out blanket letters to try and stop people from calling trying to put in service requests.

When I called USCIS two weeks ago I was told that the processing time for my local office, Fort Smith Arkansas was currently processing January 2nd 2013 so I should wait until the online processing time for this office is past my NOA1 date. He said this applied regardless of whether or not I had an interview. I am a bit confused because I thought the non interview cases were sent to the NVC for processing, not the local offices.

No, the NVC does not handle any AOS cases. I believe you mean the NBC? I have actually read that there has been a policy change for the (potential) Interview Waiver cases - they are now being sent to the local offices for processing (after being stuck at the NBC for months on end, that is). The local office will then make the ultimate decision about an interview yes/no.

With that being said, I have not received a letter yet, and I am kind of freaking out right now because my local office (OKC) has been a super-incompetent bunch with handling K1 AOS's, and they are way behind with their processing times as well (December 11, 2012)... so I probably won't have my (possible) interview until the end of the year...

We are still waiting on the GC but life goes on anyways. Finding a job has been challenging also. We'll keep waiting, we don't have a choice. Good luck everyone!

Still waiting too, but as you said - life goes on. Good luck for the job search - luckily, I didn't have any problems with that and have been working for a couple of weeks now, which definitely feels good.

Good luck to you too!

Hi all,

I got to the US on K1 visa, got married and filed for AOS March/2013.

Got RFE and respond to it in May. Got my EA card last month.

Any of you guys have similar time frame? What is your case status?

Thanks.

We got our EAD/AP at the beginning of June. We had no RFEs at this point. AOS is still in "Acceptance" stage at NBC though the acccuracy of the website is always questionable. Still, even if the case were transferred to our local center, they are working on January cases at the moment. This is to be expected though. No telling if we will be interviewed or not. Only time will tell.

We just received a notice of potential interview waiver, guess that means we may or may not be interviewed, but the letter says for sure that our AOS won't be approved for another six months from the date of the letter due to workload delays.

At least you know everything is in order and you'll probably will not have an interview.

Just received my "Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case" a couple days ago. Yep, it does say "we anticipate that delay to be approximately 6 months from the date of this letter." This is not a shocker though. As AOS cases are more unpredictable than visa timelines, the time frame that we have been anticipating has been within 7-12 months which is the commonly referred time frame to expect if no interview is given. 6 months would be just over 10 months from date of AOS acceptance. Obviously, the case would be processed quicker the sooner an interview comes along. If no interview, no problem. Less for us to worry about! This letter did come from NBC as addressed so whether the case is there or at our local service center is yet to be determined at this point.

I am curious. How many of you that received this potential interview waiver letter had the USC petitioner attend the K-1 interview?

We were both at the interview and didn't have any red flags or RFEs along the way and haven't had any up to this point. I have read here that this could influence an interview waiver decision, but of course, this is just speculation. Still, I am curious about similarities in cases.

Nope, my husband (then-fiancé) did not attend the K1 interview with me. I don't think it really matters much whether the USC attends the interview though. We can only speculate, but it seems to me that whether an AOS interview is being requested by USCIS or not is rather random. I have also read that it might depend on the workload of the local office (i.e., how much capacity they have for interviews - I know that my office is rather backed up), but who knows.

Also a March filer, still waiting. I got my EAD pretty soon. We sent change of address documents, due to the fact that we bought a house, and that changed my status on uscis.gov to Initial review. No letter, no email.. just waiting. Our local office is New Orleans.
