Dumb reason for RFE

I know 10000% I sent the marriage certificate [the original], and they're requesting saying I only gave the English Translation. I'm almost positive it's because I sent my docs in a binder with plastic sheets. I'm pretty sure I put it behind the paper behind the translation in the same sheet. I'm not sure, but I am sure I sent it!

I called the USCIS, and they informed me that since the sender was from my field office, they probably have my case.

Question: Should I go my field office and have them check for it?

Or have my husband go get another one instead?

It's kind of a hassle either way :bonk: I have to see when I could go between school & work. And my husband will have to go get another certificate far from where he lives. Plus, it will take a while for him to actually send the copy through mail. Could he also fax it if I do go through that route?

Which is smarter to do?

Another question: If they tell me to get another copy, I send it to my field office and NOT to where my case was originally (National Benefits Center)?

Thanks guys !

Did you make a copy of your certificate and translation? Never ever send originals to USCIS. Thats for the NVC stage. Hope you scanned a copy.

Also, won't they give back the originals later on?

maybe?

After the USCIS is done with them?

No USCIS doesn't give back originals unless you send in (some form request). They keep everything.

If you didn't make a copy than you have to reorder another copy make sure this time just make a photocopy and keep original which you will need at NVC.

I say go to the field office on an infopass, ask them to pull the file, and you dig through it all to show 'them' what's what.

Whilst there, ask them to make 2 photocopies. You give them 1 photocopy, take back another photocopy and the original.

Go Get Em !

FWIW, the beneficiary birth certificate is not gathered up at USCIS - it's the LOCAL OFFICES who are sometimes using other rules of adjudication (and it's wrong).

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.
