Hello people.

I would like to know if there is some cases that people got a RFE at the NVC for sending a expired birth certificate.

I say this because in some countries birth certificates seems to expire, like mine, in Spain. I was born in Argentina, and get the original could take about a year. Get a new birth certificate would take up to 3 months, and it is a looong time just for this document.

Also, if some spaniard is around here, do they know if the Libro de Familia would be good to send it instead of the birth certificate?

Thank you very much for your help!

Hi,

Spain has this very annoying thing where the birth certificates expire after 3 months. But that is for Spanish birth certificates. Do you also have the Spanish nationality, or only Argentinian? If you are Spanish, even if you were born in Argentina, you can ask for a copy of your birth certificate at the Registro Civil Central, in Madrid (I had to go there too, as I was born in Canada). If you can do it this way, it is very fast, you ask for an appointment online and they will give you the birth certificate the same day that you go.

I don't know if el libro de familia would work, I don't think so, if you were asked specifically for the birth certificate. You could try to contact the embassy in Madrid, if you contact them via email, they are pretty fast in their replies.

good luck!
