In Block 18 it says

"18. Address in the United States where your relative intends to live."

I am currently going to deploy and i lived in the barracks.

I currently don't have a US address and we are planning to get an apartment first when i come back from deployment.

What should I put in block 18?

Thank you guys for the fast responses. I really appreciate it.

maybe a relative's address. You can always change your address later with immigation.

I think a relatives address would be the best way. If you use " To be Determined" as suggested by the other poster, make sure to attach a letter explaining your situation.

You don't "use" addresses. Unless there's an actual intention to live at the relative's home, such and answer is a lie. Never lie on an immigration form. Explaining the situation is not a bad idea, just unnecessary. The G325a will indicate the petitioner is active duty military living on base. USCIS will either understand, or not care. The OP can save the explanation for the visa interview, where it can be explained, if needed. The same question is asked again at the NVC stage on the actual visa application.

It really helps if you understand the entire process before you advise people.

Guess they told me to lie then when I asked at USCIS. I told them that I intended to buy an RV and show my wife the country for a couple of years and they said to put a relatives address, preferred over a mail forwarding service, so that we would get anything sent to us thru the mail. We will change our address within the 30 day time frame if we decide to rent or buy a house.

Question 18 is not asking where to send mail. It asks where the immigrant intends to live. If you need to give a mailing address other than where you will live, you can do that when the time comes, either on the DS230 with an explanation, at the interview or even at the port of entry. Never trust the contractors manning the USCIS misinformation line.
