hey guys,

i just wanted to ask if anyone of you have tried to request for SSN in the US Embassy in Manila?

I have applied for my daughter's SSN last DEC 14, 2012. Followed up through email after 2 weeks. They returned the original documents I sent January 4, 2013. I called up the SSA, the girl was not friendly at all. Was informed that it was approved and I should wait for the SS card in the mail. By February, I called again, asking when i can receive it. It was same voice. SAid that I should wait for the card in the mail, she don't when i will receive it, don't even have a tracking number.

The only way for me to get the number was to GO TO CEBU OR MANILA. IT WILL BE VERY COSTLY TO TRAVEL.

Have you guys applied through the embassy for SSN? how soon were you able to get it?

thank you.

I do not believe you can request an SSN through USEM.

You may opt to apply for one in the DS-230 form, which USEM has record of. However, you cannot directly apply through the embassy.

You should apply through your local (U.S.) SSA office. Follow up with them. They will inform you if your application has been accepted and processed. They do not issue tracking numbers. Your card will be sent through USPS to your address.

Hope this helps.

you can actually apply for a ssn for those crba kids.

you apply it in USEM grounds - SS section.

No tracking number was given to me and was advised of ~2 weeks wait time.
