Hi everyone,

Like to ask about getting my husband a in job in his profession in finance in the US. I'm wondering if his degree and work experience is transferrable and worth anything there ... specifically in the Bay Area, Cali ... He's a Finance manager now 10yrs exp in North Africa and Middle East ... could he get a job easily? Or would we have to downgrade? Thanks

Finance jobs are VERY hard to come by now, especially if he has not worked in the US before. You may want to set your sights low. That way, if he gets a job in finance yay! If not, at least you won't be as disappointed.

There are many, many, many unemployed finance people right now. However, since I imagine he has some foreign language skills, that may be an asset to him, if he can find the right company. Most foreign people I know in finance got the job because they had a niche skills in an unusual language. With out that, they would be unemployed as there are just too many good local people competing.

Not sure about the Bay area, and what kind of finance manager he is, but around here, I see many ob ads for senior bank tellers with several years experience and also mortgage/ lending managers.
