i got a letter from USCIS saying that they got the papers of POE but the fee is in suspense!!!(THE NEW IMMIGRANT FEE OF $165) i'm so confused!!! i dont know what this mean!!!! the USCIS sent an email to my husband saying they got the payment on feb 11.... I JUST DONT UNDESRTAND THIS!!! and if you call to the USCIS this people seem to have no idea about it!!!!!!!

smells like they aren't finished processing the fee, allocating it to the USCIS special thingie.

Suggest you call into USCIS on Tuesday, when they are open, get an ISO, Tier 2 Human, and inquire.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

UPDATE:

Called again this morning, cause we all know that one call to USCIS doesn't get you anywhere.

Spoke to a T2, again. I was told that contact the Debt Management @ 802-288-7600.

Called Debt Management, I was told that USCIS collects the fee and puts it in a suspense account during which they will check your case to see if it qualifies for a fee wavier. I asked was the conditions for a fee wavier was but the rep didn't know all. She said, one condition was economic hardship (state assistance). If you qualify for a fee wavier you will get your $165 back. It takes 7-10 business days to get this done and a new notice will be sent out. Additionally, you can check the status of your case on USCIS website with the receipt number. Hope this help future applicants.

Seriously.

If someone feels they can't pay the fee, they should apply for it.

Like the gov't would really voluntarily check to see if they think you should pay them money.

UPDATE 2: Case moved from "Acceptance" to Initial Review"

"On March 12, 2013, we determined that a filing fee for your OS155A IMMIGRANT VISA AND ALIEN REGISTRATION is not required. This case is being processed at our TEXAS SERVICE CENTER location. We mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283."

Does this mean I will get my $165 back????
