Another I 134 Question

Ok, I know that your fiance takes the I 134 with him to the interview. But my question is how do you prove you have the things you put down. For instance, our co-sponsor does not quite meet the guidelines from working alone, but she does have a house that is worth at least 100,000 + and is payed of, she has no mortgage on it. Does she have to show proof of anything or does she just write it down on the I 134 and thats, that?

Has to show proof of everything listed, so if you say income is X, then provide a copy of IRS return, if you say yoy have a home worth X, then copy of property dead, and copy of record from property assesors office showing home value.

You need to back up everything written on the I-134 with evidence.

One last thing the co sponsor dose not need to meet the total income ammount, only enough to make the difference between the sponsor and 125% poverty line.

For example: lets say I make $12,500 per year, and 125% poverty line for my self and my fiance is $16,500. My co sponsor only needs to promise to cover $4,000, not $16,500.

Understand?

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

I definitely think you need to show proof of everything listed in the I-134 or at least have it available. Every Consulate is different so check into some people who have been through same one as you.

wjr,

You need to provide supporting documentation for every number that you show on the I-134.

I would not be surprised if the house is not considered in making the determination. For one thing it can take time to sell a house, but perhaps more important a consular officer may not readily believe that someone else would sell their house in order to provide support for your fiance.

Well #######< they say to have assets that can make up the difference, ####### more do they want!!!! I mean you would think they would think that if a person was putting their house on the line that they would know that that person would do everything to keep the person from being a public charge. Now I am just getting Pissed!!!!!!! Ok, sorry, thank you, I am not taking it out on you, and truly I appreciate your help, WJR

wjr,

I should have written, sell the house or take out a mortgage.

The purpose of the I-134 is to paint a picture of the proposed sponsor's overall financial situation. To that extent owning a home, especially debt free, is a plus. But the bottom line is, does the proposed sponsor have or can they obtain sufficient cash to support the visa applicant. And how likely are they to actually provide the cash should it be needed.
