hello guys,

i am really puzzled. I have wasn't able to contact DFA and I'm really confused.

I reported our marriage abroad in the middle east and tried to change my passport to use my husband's last name, what they did was just to put a stamp stating that the bearer of the passport is married and stated my name with my husband's name.

my question is that my passport is about to expire, i wanted to renew it, since i am married to a foreign national should I still attend CFO first? we wont be working on the visa yet. my purpose just for identification?

i know that cfo is important but i am here in mindanao and its quite costly to go to cebu for cfo.

thank you so much for your help.

I read it in DFA website that if u are about to use your foreign national husband's last name you must attented the seminar and get the certification of attendance and give it to DFA when u are going to get your new passport... if u are not able to do give the certification of attendance you wont be able to get ur passport. here is the link http://www.dfa.gov.ph/index.php/renewal-of-passport

If you want to renew your passport and change it to your married name, you'll need to submit a CFO certificate to the DFA.

If you want to renew your passport in your maiden name, you won't need the CFO certificate.

Maybe you could travel to Cebu with this kabayan. :D

yeah. By the looks of it, it seems i have too. Thank you for the advise.

You could just ask for an extension, it would buy you another year on the passport that you now have
