So I guess I should have checked and not assumed all the papers would be easy like getting a birth certificate here in the US. Just found out my girl needs to wait a month for the nbi thing. My luck they will have an interview open before then... Is there any chance to expedite something like that there?

she wont have a problem if her name isnt a "HIT" (same name of a person who has a pending case) and she happens to be she can ask the agent if she can get it earlier for the interview :)

It doesn't take a month for an NBI. There was a short time during a computer switch where NBIs were taking a month but that was about a year ago. It only takes a couple days to a week now.

Hank do they mail it to them? Why would she be told a month? I guess I'm thinking of how I can just go to records office and get my records right away, the process there must be different. The Cenomar will be immediate won't it?

Ah this is actually what she said it was. Other people with same name waiting or something. Oh well I guess if you wait this long a few weeks won't matter much.

Will I for sure would not want them to mail it, PhilPost sucks.... But no they didn't offer to mail it for my wife. I just asked my wife and the NBI took a week because there was a "hit" for same name, she said if no "hit" then you can pick it up right away after paying.

CENOMAR she said took a week before she could get it, BC she got immedicately.

as for the birth certificate and CENOMAR you can directly go to the National Statistics Office in Quezon CIty and get it right away or you can request for it online at www.e-census.com.ph and get it in a couple days. I got mine that way.

for the NBI clearance, a month is too long. I got my clearance last week but I was first asked to wait for more than 2 weeks. what i did was I went to NBI taft and I got my clearance the day after. no more two weeks of waiting. i just had to pay them again for the clearance fee. I hope this helps. :)
