I guess you could argue that either way.

However, I haven't come across any credible evidence as to why it's evil/wrong to practice homosexuality so to believe that it's evil/wrong/morally corrupting is untenable and yet we defer to this religious belief.

I told you it backfired...

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

It isn't evil or wrong to practise homosexuality. Not in my mind anyway; each to their own. I don't believe in any god so believing it is wrong is not something I defer too...

I make my OWN beliefs...not follow something an old geezer in a funny hat, in a posh building, reading from a very old book tells me.

I do not defer to any religious belief.... if they want to think being gay is wrong then let them they are not being asked to marry a gay person.... but some might be and not know about it... but it does not give them the right to force other to live by their beliefs....

I think I am a very smart person and I believe in God and the Bible....

Believe in God or some sort of a higher being - sure, I can understand that.

But the Bible? I mean, come on, it's just plain ridiculous.

However, by disallowing gay marriage there is a tacit agreement that there is something corrupting/wrong with it, otherwise what's the problem?

I respect your opinion but I still believe in the Bible... :)

No direct link between atheism and pro gay marriage. However, I can't think of one reason why an atheist would be against it, can you?

Is there an assumption here that most, if not all, atheists are pro-gay marriage?

Perhaps more tolerant...they haven't spent the first 20 years of their lives being told it is morally wrong.

Or maybe they have, and that is one of the reasons they are now athiest?

No, and that's because I haven't heard any arguments against gay marriage that don't involve God in some way.
