if we believers are wrong, we will never know we were wrong. If you non-believers are wrong, you will certainly know it for all eternity.

But that's MY gamble eh? Shouldn't matter to you what I believe. :)

I live my life pretty damn well. I am not cruel. I'm not nasty to small animals or children. I am charitable, I even help old ladies across the road ( :P ). If it turns out that there IS a god (and who am I to say there isn't? I just know that I will probably not find out for sure in my lifetime) and he sends me to hell for my deeds which are, IMO, pretty good. Then perhaps I am glad that I did not believe.

I burn in hell for living a good life...and a mass murderer who found God 5 minutes before being executed wallows in heaven....I'll be honest, I don't understand it. Probably never will.

This is my personal view. Not transferable to anybody else!

I thought the problem with pork was tape worms, then we had regular meat inspection. I could be wrong though.

Maybe, point is it isn't a religious thing with pork, which many people assume it is.

I have a good friend who is Muslim and she told me about the pork and the fact they they think it is a dirty animal.. I'm only taking her word for it! :)

Well..is "dirty" the same as "unclean"? I am not trying to play semantics here, but pork is considered unclean and thus unfit to eat. Dirty, somehow, seems to imply there is something sinful or inherently wrong about the pig.

Pigs have a very clean nature and have been unjustly stereotyped for years.True :P

Yup, unclean is a better word! Semantics schemantics....

Atheism can never answer nor will it ever be able to answer why.

Why we came to be.

Why the solar system was created.

Why do we eat what we eat.

Why is the world the way it is now.

Why does the world change.

Why do people die.

Why are their diseases.

Why do we live if we are going to die.

Atheism is a disatisfying philosophy, it is a hopeless position, not to be harsh, and it leaves the nonbeliever at the same spot throughout his life seeing nothing better than what he sees. It leaves many of its thinker in a random lifestyle that seems meaningless.

In Christianity, there is a better someone, someone who loves the world, who desires that all people come spend eternity with him. It is not random as atheism, because it tells us what to do to get to where it wants us to go. While Atheism leaves a person no direction, Christianity has a Director or Counselor, he is the Holy Spirit. Many people become depressed because they think their lives have no meaning at all, but Christianity teaches better. It teaches that God has a plan for everyone and that everyone has meaning in his eyes.

I'm more agnostic than athiest. But I am more than happy with my life and I feel fullfilled and loved.

Not everyone fits into the criteria of your list of wants and needs that are listed above. I'm content to just BE.

Edited to add: Atheism can never answer your questions...but IMO Science can.

Yes, voters have denied people their rights. Nice. However, what gives people the right to deny homosexuals marriage in the first place? It is surely only a defensable position if there is something inherently wrong with it?

Right. There are somethings that the majority of voters just don't get to decide. Majority rule should not trump minority rights.

No, I have nothing more to add. If society is content with the status quo which is based on some wierd ideas about sex, fair enough.

While science can answer less questions, they can prove everything they say.

Religion is a matter of belief... no one can actually prove anything (maybe that's why we have an answer to everything). And even if we do answer those questions, how can we tell we're not making it all up? :star:
