Is atheism a threat to the moral fabric of society?

I don't believe in ANY God...and I certainly have more morals than a hell of alot of people.

Why do YOU think that atheists have no morals? I'd be interested in your opinions, considering you've posed the question....

Are you more likely to be an atheist if your parents are? Are they born with an inability to believe?

It isn't an inability to believe...it's the need for proof.

Myhusband was born in a quaker's household and he doesnt have a religion now but he still believes in god.. and he's the very moral people I've met in so far

For me (Buddhist) might be similar to atheism becasue we dont really have a god but speritual, nature and science

I haven't said what I think, I am just posing questions.

I pose the question because of something that came out of another thread.

But you must have a reason for posting the thread. Something has obviously prompted it....

Please elaborate a bit more.

PH, might you link to the thread that brought this up?

I grew up with no religion and, I'm not trying to be offensive here, most religions look ridiculous to me. I'm sure any one of them could be the right one, but they all look completely nuts to me. *

I think it's great that people can believe in stuff, though.

*except the ones that don't have a god-worshipping element, like Buddhism. The ones that just provide a map to live your life, because it's the moral thing to do, not because someone told you to, are ones I can sort of understand.

Well said.
