The process usually takes about a year without RFE's or AP. By sponsoring themselves do they have a job in the US ? Do they have assets to cover at 5 times the rate for 2 people ? Also older applicants sometimes have to show proof of medical covereage.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.

It takes about a year.

Your parents cannot sponsor themselves. As the petitioner, you are required to file an I-864 Affidavit of Support. If you cannot meet the poverty line, then you need a US citizen or green card holder who can meet the poverty line to co-sponsor.

The trickiest bit is Health Insurance so I would start with that.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
