Hello,

My husband is filling F2A for me and our priority date is March 2, 2011.

NVC sent us a "case complete" e-mail on July 2012. We have been waiting for a visa to be available since then.

Our questions are regarding the Hong Kong police report. Due to the long wait between the completed case and my potential interview in a few months, I now have been working in Hong Kong over one year now. This means I will need to get a Hong Kong Police No Criminal Record for my interview.

However, Hong Kong Police only mails the police report directly to the Guangzhou consulate/NVC after they see a request letter from NVC or the Consulate General in Guangzhou. They will NOT provide a police report to me as the beneficiary of the case.

1. I opted for electronic processing, so which letter from NVC or consulate should I take with me to the HK police department?

2. Since we elected for electronic processing, where should Hong Kong police mail the No Criminal Record to?

3. If the HK police department agrees to mail it to Guangzhou directly, will the consulate know where to file it properly so they will have my HK police clearance in my file on my interview date given that my case is currently at NVC and not sent to Guangzhou yet?

Thanks for any insight in this issue.

Unfortunately, we didn't receive any letter requesting for a police report from NVC during our electronic processing and front-loading period. We called NVC and talked to a couple of supervisors, but were told that they can't do anything at this point without bringing our completed case out of queue. This action would cause us to lose our spot in line to be sent to Guangzhou for an interview later than if we hadn't disturbed it...what a dilemma!

We also called DOS as suggested, and decided to e-mail Guangzhou consulate directly to ask the same questions. They both replied asking us to call NVC directly as they can't send us a letter requesting a police report since our case is still in the hands of NVC.

At this point, we went full-circle and are worried that the missing HK police report will cause a RFE once Guangzhou receives our case file. That in itself is worrisome since that could cause our case to be delayed or stagnate in Guangzhou.

My husband did mention that one of the people at NVC told him to send an updated DS-230 with my work address in HK, if and when he is able to upgrade our case by becoming naturalized within a couple of months. Apparently this will cause a delay as well since we will have to wait for NVC to bring out our case file to update the new information, send a letter to us requesting a HK police report, apply for the HK police report, wait for about 4 weeks for HKPD to send the report to NVC, and finally have NVC send our e-file to Guangzhou. This would only cost us additional 2-4 months if everything goes smoothly? :crying:

Does anyone have any other suggestions or tips to handle this unexpected and annoying situation at this point? :help:

Thank you for your assistance.
