I've been lurking for a little while, reading up on things ready for our eventual K-1 filing at the start of April (once Amy and I have more recent photos to meet the 2 year requirement). This site's been a fantastic resource for the both of us, and I'm looking forward to the long journey ahead of us. Only going to make the two of us stronger!

I met Amy playing an online game about 6 years ago now and we've met up about 4 times so far (money was mainly the issue on my side, unfortunately). The relationship went from there as we discovered a joint love of various things like music and other games. I proposed to her by giving her a book I created via Blurb with photos of us in Chicago and Rochester, NY on Christmas Day 2011. The last page asked her to marry me, with me on one knee and a ring in my hand. Of course, she said yes, else we wouldn't be filing for K-1! :D

Now we're saving up for the wedding, getting bits and pieces planned (I know, I know, people say not to get planned, however our backup plan is that if the K-1 isn't issued in time that we'll have a non-legal ceremony and reception, then get married legally when I move over on the K-1) and just trying to see as much of each other as we can this year until everything's done and dusted.

Had a bit of a hostile reception in the first couple of posts I made but looking forward to conversing with the rest of you and maybe even helping out one day as I go through the process myself.

Welcome. Hope it all goes well for you and your planned date is not less than 10 months after applying at the very, very minimum and that could get nerve wracking. Things happen to delay, every step of the way. You can start now if you have met in the last two years. The photos from 2011 are enough and are not the most important evidence anyway.

In case you don't know, there is a UK forum to help with things after the I-129F petition is approved so you get through the London part efficiently. That is currently about 3 months if you plan ahead and are ready with your additional forms and documents. I am only mentioning that because often new members read the petition takes 6-7 months, BUT that is only part of the process to get a visa.

Thanks Nick, I've been reading all over so I know it's going to take anywhere from 10 months to a year from filing to visa-in-hand. We were planning on May next year - so 11 months by the time we file - but like I say, we've got the backup plan if needs be. Still got the boarding passes and passport stamps so that's more evidence right there so we really could get it started this month instead of next, and if they do an RFE then we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

With time constraints, get started as soon as possible. All that is required is ONE meeting. The extra fluff about how many times a day you Skpe and what your Facebook status says is pure BS.

That's it. You don't have to prove you are in love. Send that petition with the photos you already have. London will look at those and be happy.
