My wife applied for her permanent resident card at the end of December, and she has already gone in for her biometrics. Today, her wallet was stolen with the green card inside. Being that we already applied for her permanent residency, is it recommended to get a replacement green card? I saw that it will cost $450 for a replacement, which I would rather not have to pay. We have the letter from the USCIS granting her a 1 year extension, but will that be sufficient for any travel purposes? Should we just wait until her permanent resident card arrives (fingers crossed) or get a replacement? Should we report that the green card was stolen? Thanks!

Make an infopass and get a stamp in her passport. Tell them you lost the card. It takes about 4 months to get a new card so there isn't much point if you have already applied for the ROC.

Where would I get the stamp at? Are we required to report that the card was stolen? Is there anything that this thief could potentially use her card for? We have already filed a police report, cancelled all credit and debit cards, and she already got a new temporary license.

Infopass: http://infopass.uscis.gov/

Are we required to report that the card was stolen?

You should. The extension letter on its own, without the card is not quite a valid document.

Stamp in the passport would replace the GC as evidence of being in US legally.

Слава Україні!

Make an infopass appt, get the stamp then and take your ROC paperwork also for them to see. You I751 is valid with the card (MIA), in your case the stamp.

In Arizona its hot hot hot.
