Hi guys,

I have a question which sounds to be an easy one for such a huge experience u guys have, however i do not know the answer , so if u may help me in it.

My Question is:

I had 2 years GC, i applied for ROC and now waiting for it.

1- once i receive the 10 years GC, my citizenship count from that day? i mean to apply for citizenship i have to count from tht day and forget about my other 2 years? or renewing my GC does not restart my timing here?

2- once i hve the 10 years GC, and i wanna go visit my family in my country, is it that i just go and come back showing them my green card? or i have to ask for visa or stamp from the UCSIC or somthing?

3-Being married to an american, when excatlly u can apply for citizenship ? two and half years from being in the US. or 3 month before the third anniversary of me being in the US?

thanks a looooooooot nice people :)

Length of time as a resident begins on the date it shows on your card..resident since. You can travel into and out of the US with a valid passport and valid green card, no visa for the US is required. You can apply for citizenship based on marriage to the same US citizen at 90 days prior to the three year anniversary of your "resident since" date. There are some rules on time out of the country and length you must be in the US prior to applying for citizenship. Usually short trips out of the country will not affect your ability to file.

You are still a resident (with conditions for 2 years, but still a resident) while you are waiting for your ROC, so the 3 years countdown starts at the date of your "resident since" on your 2-year green card.
